neil cooney 10,416
Remember years ago when you'd get some fool at a show who'd put ferrets down his trousers for a pint or two. Imagine the tickles off one of them freaks. Quote Link to post

ferret lady 73
Wullie, I'm glad you're keeping him to ensure that he won't be used for breeding. Not only does he have the Angora bad genetics, the picture shows that he has another serious genetic defect, ie, what is referred to as a "twisted nose," the result of a jaw malformation where the upper and lower jaws do not meet properly. Does he have any trouble eating or chewing as a result of it? Edited July 2, 2010 by ferret lady Quote Link to post

I wouldn't call it a twisted nose it just looks bit like outside in so to speak, his upper and lower jaw match up like any other ferrets, but have seen picture of some that are a real mess, as for dealing with this heat they do manage alot better than a std ferret as it don't have an under coat but means they need extra bedding in the winter as they feel the cold. as for showing them you will be surprised to hear that they are frowned apon by most judges including myself and never get placed. para1 11
Here is a picture of an angora ferret i got handed in to my rescue last year it was inly about 4 mths old, the girl drove two and a half hours to pick him up and paid £200 for him and its surrogate mum as angoras cant rear there own kits, when i explained to the girl that she only lines the breeders pockets and told her why it had a surrogate mum and what would have happened to the kits from her she said she would not have got him if known this, any way he is still at the rescue despite alot of folk willing to take him off my hands but as you can see my boy quite likes him so he will stay here and will that way i know he will never be bred from, and will live a happy life. you might think i am mad but i wish to keep him so that i can record any ailments he gets thrughout his life and compare it with a standard ferret, but please note i do not and will not agree with the breeding of this animal but atleast i can look after it until he is gone as to date he is the only real one i have ever seen in scotland as have the whole of the scottish club members, but no doubt this trend will kick off and folk will start to get them but not from me i asure you of that. NO I'm sure you won't breed it until someone has the right money.P1 Quote Link to post

Its a lot cheaper to simply neuter him than feed 2 big dogs for the best part of 10 yrs :clapper: is there an ethical reason why he isnt neutered as you have expressed no interest in him being used to bred from ? Yes out of curiasity i want this ferret to live a totaly untouched life by a vet until the time comes, so that i can monitor and collect the data from him so that further down the line i can say that i had one and this is the problems that i have came across, he lives with neutered jills just now so i dont see why i should have have done would be differant if he was stuck in a cage on his own.
