Rabbithunter 456
I would learn to set as I go if I was you...that,s what I did. Best of luck. Regards Mapreader. setting as you go is quite a task when working on your own, most of my sets have quite a good backdrop, ie; woodland, thick hedgerow, so i have never found a problem with backpegging, except for on one or two sets i have. As mentioned, it depends on the ground you are working Quote Link to post

As mentioned, it depends on the ground you are working walking back and forth might be ok for you youngsters , but us older lads have learned to conserve energy, its quite suprising how many rabbits you feel or hear hitting a net as you set it up, if they are squatting near where you are setting up your net , as you go past they will think you havn,t seen them and run for home , into the net, with the old method, you are missing alot of rabbits cos you have to walk back along and set your pegs Quote Link to post
whin 463
when useing nets, ive always preferd two 50s than one hundred net even for netting fish it makes sense lighter to carry if it gets full of crap etc ,alright if your on a bowling green surface but its never like that localy , ive netted from early 80s hares rabbits phesis great sport , and now for lobstersetc all sorts of fish great fun etc , netting partridges phesis is gpood sport two even roe can be had in nets all the best Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
even roe can be had in nets all the best i suppose if you have been asked to cull roe from the area then this could be a quick method to do so, obviously your net would be set for rabbits and you would "accidently" catch the roe. But in any other case, isn't it just a waste of sport? unless of course you need food on the table Quote Link to post

Guest Bigbob
In days of old when knights where bold some guys here used to set the rides in the woods up and when the deer panicked and ran out let the dogs go . Quote Link to post
