just called air arms s400 up advise please

hi i just called the lad selling the s400 rifle and he said if 12 to 18 weeks old but he dosent have a

receipt for it and and he said when he bourght it did a full service on it why would a brand new gun need a full sevisce on it also he said the shop sold him the gun they kept the box and put the gun in the case

Sounds like the rifles had a problem when he bought it or soon after buying it and been sent back to get a repaird, thats when it might have had a full service ? He might have said he didnt need the box when he bought it from the dealers. I wouldnt read to much into it. If your not sure look else where.

Also, some retailers do take them out of the boxes...I know when I bought a combination of rifle/scope/slip from the airgun centre in Rayleigh, it came with scope mounted, in the slip.

I wouldnt read too much into it but if you dont believe him about its age, ask for the serial number and phone air arms. They will be able to tell you when it was manufactured and when it left the factory

As with ANY Air Arms rifle , you ask for the serial number before you buy it . Then if your unsure of the year / history , you can ring directly Air Arms and they will tell you every thing you need to know about that peticular rifle , simple .

The serial number will tell you when it was manufactured, but not how long it's been sitting in stock at a distributor/gun shop. They can sit around for a fair while between manufacturing and selling, so that won't tell you much. If you're worried, get him to tell you who the RFD was that he got it from. They will have records of the sale, and should be able to tell you all about the guns history.

If you know how the serial numbers work you can tell when the rile was manufactured , year and month . But as stated , if you ring Air Arms they can tell you when it was made , who it was sold to and when , also how many times its been serviced or back to them for any repair , and tyhe details of such things . They will also tell you the full spec of the rifle as it left , so basically if its not how they say it should be , its been messed with . Where as your local RFD will have more part exchanges than the local car sales pitch , so can really not give the information AA can .

Didn't last long if there are questions like you have then stay clear, unless of course he's a respected regular.
