Next England manager.....

Recommended Posts

Well I know Capello still has the job(for now)but I can't see the F.A letting him stay on,what with all thats gone on!Just wondering who you would like to see in the job?Me if I was a England supporter I'd want Harry Redknapp seems he as that old fashioned man-management style,he appears to be able to build confidence in a group of players and makes that group a team.A trait that a lot of managers can't grasp IMO,I for one think England need a English coach again.Roy Hodgson another who would do a good job but he's going to Anfield on Thursday so he's out of the running,if they were to pick a foriegn coach again the only one with experience of English football worth picking would be Morinho though he's just signed a contract with Real.As foriegn managers go I like Martin O'Neill(hardly foriegn but not English)he was respected as a player and another who seems to have a team philosophy

Just thinking out loud.........

he could do the job (Harry Redknapp) ,but who ever did the job, you only get the best out of (over rated) players, to certain level. And the prob with our country is we think they are better, than what they really are.fact :hmm: And these Big Tournament's will alawys show in todays football, not 40 years ago (66), football moved on , we havnt

I would like to see Harry Redknapp get the job but i dont think the FA will give it him, simply because he has a bit of scandal in his background what with the betting buiseness....i think the FA would rather have a squeaky clean character even if he is not as good as a manager...which is another one of our problems as a nation we are more worried about giving off the wrong impression than picking the best man for the job.....look at the Argies, they picked a proven drug taking cheat to manage their national side because he was the best man for the job.....our FA havent got the bottle to do that....

Probably Roy Hodgson will get it,i think if that dick Allardyce gets it i,ll just chuck the towel in !

I agree with this in a way.....its like anything you invent that becomes popular,it ends up where everyone else passes you by !

As a nation we are a small in size footballing nation yet because of our reputation etc we are expected to be top of the tree.....look at this world cup,the sport has become huge globally, even nations not really known for football are becoming just as big as us....the asian and african sides not to mention the south americans have become great football nations simply because of the popularity of the sport....to the point where size IS making a difference.....when a sport becomes popular in somewhere like Japan they have so many more millions of people to choose from its only natural for a nation like us to get left behind.....i think the premier league are going to have to put a cap on foreign players very soon or there is going to be another influx of foreigners on their way after the world cup simply because these so called smaller football nations actually have some very good players.

The 66 win for England has done more damage then good, ok the nation was delighted at their national team winning the ultimate football prize, and rightly so, an outstanding performance by world class players. :toast::toast:

But to much pressure is heaped upon the shoulders of the players who wear the jersey at such a tournament, I think its time for the nation to forget the pass, the players you had back in 66 were some of the greatest players ever to come out of England and the world at that time, but time moves on and waits for no man.

I think I can say that the current crop of players would not be fit to polish the 66 squad boots.

Martin O' Neill gets my vote.

Of the 66 world cup squad only Banks,Moore,B Charlton....and possibly Jimmy Greaves ( though he didnt play in the final ) were recognised world class players......the likes of Nobby Styles,Geoff Hurst,Martin Peters etc were not known outside of England.....

Although i agree with you about pressures the truth is the rest of the world has caught up with us due to the worldwide popularity of the sport, the sport has grown massively but England are still the same size....it stands to reason we cant dominate like we did back then.

I agree, He was a good player and yes he may know about football but as far as being a good manager goes I'm not too sure. No qualifications, No experience and I cant really see him being to influencial in the dressing room. Some of the best players in the world have gone on to be shit managers and some of the best managers in the world were average at football and some never even played the game.

I would be happy with Beckham doing it, Knows the English game inside out, He's the most patriotic, Most pride and he knows how to get the sneaky results when needed, He played at the top level for a good 10 years, Maybe him and Shearer could do it. Definatly not Hanson, Remember him saying "you'll never win anything with kids!" How wrong he was there and he's definatly not English, Well thats what we need now, Some youth with guts and everything to prove and nothing to lose.
