How to clean melted plastic wad from barrel?

Hi,

 

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the stubborn plastic from the plastic wads that builds up on the throat of my Beretta Semi-Auto?

there was a article about plastic fouling in this months issue of 'Sporting Gun'

it recomends using "hoppes no.9 rifle barrel cleaner" when plastic fouling is present but says it is designed for metallic fouling and will attack your bronze brush so make sure to wash it afterwords.
