matt_hooks 188
I can't see any reason why not. As long as you are legally entitled to hold the weapon, there's no reason why anyone shouldn't be able to gift you a weapon. Mr Plod doesn't have to know how you acquired it, as long as it's from a legal source and the transfer is done legally! At least that's the way I'd read it. The law shouldn't be able to dictate how the RFD disposes of his stock, as long as it's to someone entitled to hold the weapon in question. It'd be like saying that a supermarket couldn't offer beans on 2 for 1! Course I could be wrong, but if it's illegal then the law is stupid! (ok, granted, we know it can be in many instances, so there's probably some 1850's statute that makes it illegal) Quote Link to post

Yep, no problem. You FAC is your authorisation to "Possess, purchase or acquire". It matters not how you actually acquire it and the dealer commits no offence by simply giving you it, and nor would anyone else, for that matter. It would be pointless even making it an offence for him to do so as all he would need to to to get round it would be to sell you it for a 1p and you would have purchased it. J. Quote Link to post

J. That was partly my thinking too J. A bit like the Sunday trading regulations. It's illegal to sell things like garden furniture, so you got people selling things that it was legal to sell, like food, for ridiculous prices, and then "giving away" the expensive furniture!
