jazz_11 5 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Share Posted June 27, 2010 alright lads my pure breed whippet is getting on abit now he is 8 months old is he ready to get going on the lamp, i had him out last week but kept him on the lead for most of it as he was working with another dog.. whats the best turn the lamp on chuck a tennis ball up the beam and go from there get him following the beam ? thanks Quote Link to post

mally 832 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Share Posted June 27, 2010 8 Month old!!!! he's still a pup mate, let him be a pup and be patient.His tendons and muscles will still be soft and all you'll do is injure the dog. You'll get more from the dog if you enter the dog later. I've got a 9 month old pup and i havn't even thought showing her any work yet. I'm just keeping up with her training and taking things easy. There's no rush. When i do enter my whippets mate i do it on there own without any other dogs. Each to there own but you'll ruin the dog Quote Link to post

pike hunter 0 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Share Posted June 27, 2010 alrite lads just after some advice meself probably a stupid Q to some of u dog men but am just starting out i hav a 6 month old lurcher i walk her off the lead so she can run and she is forever trying to catch squrriels and rabbits even swallows which is funny to watch but i want to no should i not let her b doing this as she is a pup just [bANNED TEXT] she sees a rabbit it only ever 2 or 3 yards from cover so never going to catch it i am finding that she is even starting to stalk squrriels i havent encouraged her but dont no wheather am doing the [bANNED TEXT] thing cos am not ment to start her til 12 months or so thanks Quote Link to post
