Climbing Ben Nevis

On the 28th of August me and a group of friends are climbing Ben Nevis. Got a bit of info on it and it looks like its going to be a killer. Has anyone on here done it and if so how did it go? Whats the do/don'ts about it? Cheers

ve just returned from my honeymoon in Aviemore.we went to ben nevis and up it but got the cable car,never again,it kept stopping,i shat meself(well nearly)i wasnt amused..doesnt look too difficult to climb but some of the paths look dodgy..RIP lab-tastic

In the info' pack i got it did say some of the routes were dangerous and coming down you've to stick to the path you went up for the fear of sheer cliff faces............ffs

Its all for a good cause so a f*****g machine like myself should manage it no sweat.......

its not too bad mate, i did it in 90s with army...just take it steady on way up and dont go to close to edge lol...but what ever weather go prepared with spare kit,food,water etc.

mate pennygent is a mole hill compared to mr nevis Lucky for us it lasted 5 - 10 mins maybe a bit longer and blew out then we got back to flying the kite

It's not technical or that difficult if you go up the tourist path.

Model T Ford on Ben Nevis

 

'Alpine pace' is the way to go. Walk quite slow with smallish paces and just keep on going. It's faster than walking too quickly and stop / starting all the time. Plenty of water, some food, and as said before, enough clothes in case the weather goes bad. Hope it's clear, not cloudy when you get to the top. Good luck -- it's a top sense of acheivement to reach the summit

Aye it's not to hard mate,hope it's a clear day for you as it is often covered with mist at the top. If your staying up in Fort William over night the local girls are some of the friendliest in the UK if you know what i mean

I ran the Snowdon race a couple of times in the 's, it's held in July. On one occasion it was 27 deg C on the field at the start, just before the start came an announcement on the pa, warning it was 4 degrees at the top, and it was , it was bloody freezing .

Oh and Roebuck we have a 2 night stay in Fort William so should be good
