Marathonman 0
Just saying hello to everyone. Newbie to the Forum and to hunting, having taken up shooting just a couple of months ago. Main interests are decoying wood pigeon and corvids and rough shooting rabbits and other pests / vermin, although finding permissions within striking distance of London is not easy! I've got three shotguns, a Benelli M2 semi-auto synthetic, a Miroku mk38 Sporter over & under and a lovely old but well looked after Spanish side by side. I'm looking to buy a .410 Hushpower, probably a Baikal single barrel or similar, in the not too distant future and along with the BSA Lightning with 3 - 9 x 50 scope fitted I bought recently, that will be my collection complete! By the way, have a friend who is looking for a Hushpower 12g, pref single barrel and fairly cheap (Baikal or Pedretti?) if anyone knows of any for sale? Looking forward to pestering you all with my newbie questions! Happy hunting.

Marathonman 0
Hi stubby and thanks for the welcome! I'm in Hackney.. or should that be 'ackney? Not far from West Ham... In fact from where I am I can see one side of the Olympic Village and from West Ham you could see the other! A mate is trying hard to get himself a Hushpower moderated 12g. He just missed out on getting one today after I spotted TWO on a gunshop website at a reasonable cost but unfortunately they were snapped up before he could get one. The Spanish side by side I have was his, he sold it to me as he's selling up to get the Hushpower. Glad to have it too as he looks after his guns very well and as he introduced me to shooting, it was the first shot gun I ever fired ;0) He's selling his Baikal MP 153 too but tempted as I am (second gun I ever fired!) I already have a semi auto I am very happy with! He has similar needs for a moderated shot gun as yourself, living in Milton Keynes and having permissions near buildings and on equestrian land. I just want the Hushpower for bunny bashing and to be honest, to complete the list of guns I feel will cover all the types of shooting I'm likely to be in to. Spent a small fortune and so far, I am definitely 'all the gear and no idea' ! But I'm keen and I'll learn! I've got family out in Essex, Braintree... Anywhere near you? I've been having a mooch.. very nice forum, very well laid out and very usefull. Cheers Paul
Marathonman 0
ex east ham'er here now living the country ish life, lol Sorry, just read it properly, East Ham not West. Not far from Stratford...
stubby 175
well, west ham's right next door, now in grays, bout 5 minutes from the dartford bridge, have a couple of permissions in braintree though, I too had a 12 gauge pedretti hushpower, was as good as the 410 if not better, but sub sonic carts were around £6.50 a box, so ended up getting rid, for a semi, much better having more than one cart for the pigeons
Marathonman 0
He's not a big pigeon decoyer, ferreting is his passion, that and rough shooting to feed the ferrets. As I say, where he shoots the suppresed 12g will be ideal. I'm surprised he let his beloved side by side go though, glad I was in a position to have it off him. You've done well getting permissions in Braintree. Probaly the hardest thing in getting involved in shooting isnt it, finding permissions? Seems strange at first, you think "I'll be doing them a favour, they'll welcome me with open arms." but it doesnt work like that does it? Cheers again for the welcome. stubby 175
the bummer is the permissions are ferreting only, I, up until recently only had one shooting permission in essex, a small farm with noise issues, hence the hushpower, even as a full time pestie I could'ent find any others, then out of the blue, a customer that I did a rat job for, offered me 58 acres of very private land to shoot, even gave me FAC permission, so Im waiting patiently (not) for my FAO to visit
Marathonman 0
Wow! That is a great result! Well done! It's all about connections really isnt it? By the way, if you ever need a gun... Good luck with the FAC! Paul
