OldTrapCollector 377
As a lad I had an old wicker fishing basket but one of the front legs was missing so it tipped forward when I leant forward and I went in 12 feet down a flat wall - a copper was walking by and heard my mate shout (I was only about 8 at the time) and one held the others ankles to reach me in the water. Worst bit about it was that I lost my welly when being pulled out and my mother went mad when I got home ... Happy memories ... OTC

runforyourlife 361
Had a real do on a loch in scotland. It actually featured in the anglers mail. i was stood up casting lures on a wooden boat we had hired! Not much to mention about the fall as i didnt remember. I went over board and banged my head on the way over... The next thing i remembered was waking up on the bottom of the loch bed! It was a real mad experience, opening your eyes and looking up through water with the sun shining down. Then bang,! all of a sudden the floatation suit i was wearing worked. (they explode with air when becoming wet) I floated to the top, which was about 11ft up, and surfaced about 30yrds from the drifting boat. My mate shit himself. I was down there for about 40seconds but it seemed like an hour...Thats the reason why it went in the press, as the company wanted to promote thier life jackets, and have proof they worked... PeakOil 352
Never fallen myself, bein a margin master I tend to keep well back from the edge Seen most of my mates fall in numerous times. Best one was at Charnock delph mate was walking to his peg and there was about an 8 foot drop to the water. He slipped went arse over tit 8 feet down into the water while carrying his box and holdall. Big splash, I should have gone to help him but I was rolling on the floor laughing. donk 12
Me and my father were fishing the whiteadder, he was trying to get his greenwells glory under an overhanging tree. Cast after cast fell short of the mark. He waded closer and closer, a grim look of determination across his face. I could see he was a bit unsteady and unbalanced. "watch your step faither" i called over to him. " Be quiet" he hissed back at me. Again his cast fell short of the rising beasty. His next cast fell very nicely upstream of the rise and as it passed over the fish it rose. The fly was taken, faither glanced across at me with a look of sheer delight. The tension was applied to the line and faither took one half step forward as he braced himself for the play. 'Splash' He was gone. All i could see was his arm held high, and still clutching his rod. After what seemed like an eternity he surfaced in a most grand fashion. There was an eruption of water and just as a whale does when it surfaces there was a fountain of air and water spouting from his mouth. He was gasping for air, eyes blinking wildly, thrashing about in the river trying to recover his balance. Me? Well after a few seconds of worrying i stood there and laughed until my sides were aching and tears were streaming down my face. He dragged himself out of the river and onto the bank. As he took off his waders and emptied what seemed like gallons of water from each of them i was still pissing myself laughing. The first thing he did was take his baccy pouch out of his pocket and tell me to check it was still dry, lol. I helped him get stripped off and wrung the water out of his clothes. " how about i start the car up and you can keep warm in there while youre clothes dry off on the heater? " i said to him. "aye good thinking lad" he replied. So he is sitting in the car in his undercrackers and nothing else, clothes drying off in front of the heaters in the car. The windows keep steaming up and he is trying to make a rollie. All of a sudden this coach pulls up and out get about 50 pensioners, they look like ' the borders rambling association'. And guess what? The route they are taking leads them right past the car and my rather embarressed faither. One by one they pass the car and call out "good morning" to faither. Me? Yes im in fits of laughter again, belly aching and eyes streaming, happy days i tell you, happy days.
