andyfr1968 772
Hi, folks. As said I've just been paid a visit. Turns out one of my lovely neighbour's rang in a 999 call TWO days ago to say I'd been shooting all over the place, chimney pots, birds in other folks trees all kinds of sh1te. The funny thing is, I've not shot at home for over a week FFS!! And 'cos my garden's only 12 yards long, I shoot from the back of my kitchen which gives me an extra 5 yards so I'm not even in the feckin' garden!!!! Anyway, I explained all this the cops, showed them my back-stop, been shooting for over 30 years blah blah and in fairness to them, they were cool and understanding. Said they'd have a word with whoever's complained and hopefully, that's an end to it. Thing is, there is a house that's at the back of mine, not sure which one and I've heard an airgun being shot by some young lads. Lot's of shouting and all that..... so I guess it could've been them. My neighbour's know I shoot and none have ever moaned about anything before..... I can kind of picture the scene, someone hears a gun going off, shots hitting stuff, can't tell where from and assumed it's been me. But TWO days after a 999 call???? After what that nutter did in Cumbria I can't get over that!!! Cheers. Edited June 24, 2010 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post

pest hunter 151 15
Two days. That is a realy bad response time. Mabe you should write a letter to your police station and ask why it took so long Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Thanks, Davy. Don't think that's a good idea for me pest hunter. They came in with a bad attitude to start with and as it happened I'd only been home for an hour or so after comeing back from my new shoot, so my gear and a couple of dead bunnies were in my kitchen. One was a WPC and she didn't look too chuffed..... I take your point 100% though. A few days after all that and they get a call to say some tosser's randomly shooting stuff and it takes 2 days for them to respond. Bad form........ Don't want to rock the boat. It's not too good where I live and if I p1ss off the local plod I'm worried it will cause me problems if this comes up again. They left happy and that's how I want them to stay... Cheers. Phantom 631
2 days is not good, but its far from the worst response for a 999 call. I've made hundreds of 999 calls over my working life as Security and Close Protection for various incidents. The worst response I had was when I was working nights looking after the young residents at the YMCA in Goole a fair few years ago. I had been sat with a couple of residents watching a late night film in the common room, when we heard screaming from outside. I ran to the cameras and noticed a guy beating up a woman about 100 yards away. As I was not allowed to leave the premisses, I called 999. They monitored the situation using a feed from the railways stations CCTV cameras, now considering the Police Station was litterally 250 yards from my location, it took over a week for them to respond and deal with the guy in question It turned out that the guy doing the beating was one of our residents! andyz 30
Let's hope that's the end of it! Always someone to try and buggers things up for others! ATB, Andy Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Thanks for your comments, fellas. As it happens, I bumped into one of the plods who came round this aft outside my local Co-op. He was asking me if I'd been out lately and as it turns out, he's thinking of takeing up airgunning again as it's something he used to do when he was a lad. Funny old world sometimes.... Cheers. After what that nutter did in Cumbria I can't get over that!!! Cheers. Think thats bad ? I live 45 miles south of the bird gunman and 3 days after the shootings i had the armed response come looking for me on my permission after someone reported me getting a high power rifle out of my van that has pest control in the area on a sign in the window. The suposedly high power rifle was my hw100 .177. A week later the police come and confiscated all my guns for a week then a week later asked me to sign a disclaimer!!! Sorry thats not happening was my reply then i got them back. During the week i was without my guns i went and paid another £850 for another hw100 177, bipod and gun bag and scope so now i have 2 hw100s and an AA s410 .22. The AA s410 .22 is now for sale!! jackinbox99 41
Thats rediculous, talk about 1 extreme to another. Wheres the police`s common sense here? Or the consistancy in their actions? Seems the firearms enforcement people must go to the same police training as their speeding enforcement teams. For Example over the past few years: a) My brother was overtaking 2 cars safely. As he passes the first car, the driver decides he also wants to overtake and pulls out without looking, ramming my brothers car off the road and down a ditch writing the car off. Driver doesnt stop. Police catch up with the guy and send him on a drivers awareness course. No points. Im sitting stationary in my car parked safely on the side of the road, and a car doing 70mph in a 30mph zone piles into the back of me, writing my car off and causing me some injuries - im off work for several months. Police say "not enough evidence so we are not prosecuting the other driver". c) I got flashed doing 81 in a 70 a few months back whilst overtaking a lorry on a dual carrageway, with a long queue of cars behind me trying to get past me. I got 3 points. Fair enough, but they wouldnt let me do the driver awareness course as they said i wasnt driving fast enough! Where is the consistancy eh?! All in the same local constabulary area. Sounds like the police really need to have a set of instructions so they give out the same penalties, or do the same actions for the same crimes each time! Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
The three cops that came to see me were just normal Bobbies and when I asked one of them if he'd like to my other guns he said 'there's no point, I don't know the first thing about guns' he then asked me 'is there any you need a licence for...'. FFS!!! The lad I bumped into at the shops had gone by this point... I must've asked at least another two or three times but he didn't want to know. Years back an old girlfriend of mine and me were rideing back to Leeds from Wakefield along the M1. We both got nicked for speeding at 106mph by and umarked car. We were both ticketed for the same speed as she we following right behind me. I got done by Wetherby magistrates court and got a two week ban and £150 fine. She was shafted by Leeds magistrates to the tune of a three month ban and £600!!!! fine. Consistant???? My feckin' arse..... Cheers. Edited June 30, 2010 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
