Im not familiar with the dogs pedigrees, how close is the breeding?.A popular cross in coursing greyhounds is son of a daughter to a daughter of a son to a particular dog whose traits your trying to reproduce. Closely bred dogs can be a bit highly strung /wild but not always.A plus side to them is that they can often breed better than themselves. Quote Link to post
blacktabs 3
That would make them inbred father to daugter wouldnt it done this type of mating when i needed to replace a good old dog years ago pups were a bit hypo but no worse for it got what i wanted from the litter so it paid off but next line was a complete outcross so as not to get any faults atb..... Dan Edwards 1,134
I aint got a bunch of experience with inbreeding like some but I have done it here and there over the years and didnt see a problem with it. Of course didnt see fireworks shoot out their ass or anything either so dont know what my opinion on it is. Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
:thumbs:IMHO its the best way to improve a certain line of dogs wether it be cross breds or pures a lot of the outstanding coursing dogs are proof of that.I have done it with the type of springers i keep and have had very good results Quote Link to post
