jill back in season

Recommended Posts

mated my year old jill with a borrowed hob, left them in together for a week and watched them mate succesfully on a couple of occasions, and the jill had the tell tale signs of being roughed up by the hob so i waited expectantly but unfortunately she wasnt pregnant. never mind the lad who loaned me the hob has given me a couple of kits which is really good of the lad.

problem is the jill is back in season so for her health i have mated her with another hob. if she is for whatever reason infertile will she keep going in to season? she is a really good little jill a real grafter. so i want whats best for her. thinking now i should have took her to the vets instead of putting her back to the hob as if she does get pregnant its going to be a late litter and she wont be fit for the beggining of the season,

any suggestions

I would have thought she would keep coming back in untill september, not 100% shore though as I have never bred only jill jabbed and speyed.

Though I personaly would have jabbed her the second time so she would be ok to work this season and them try again next year.

sorry I can't be more help.

Is the first hob a proven father elsewhere ? . If he is and your jill doesn't take this time she might well be infertile and you want to look at getting your own snipped hob as she will just return into season till the daylight becomes shorter

Thanks boys, im not sure if the hobs are proven sires i chose them for working ability and size they are medium size and consistent workers.

if she doesnt take with this hob i will get her jabbed or speyed. it will be a shame as she is a good worker
