Guest baldie Posted November 18, 2006 Report Share Posted November 18, 2006 BEWARE.Boresnakes are very good, but only clean in one direction, and are NOT meant as a substitute for a rod, and phosphor bronze brush.You MUST continue to use a rod, and use the boresnake, as a quick clean aid in the field etc.The .17 hmr will rapidly foul, Ian, if you only use the "snake", and will then require a lot of hard work, to get the copper out.The last one i did in the shop, took two hours to get properly clean.
