Little old lady tells me off

Recommended Posts

Only because you've re-read the thread you clown lol. I remember what you typed though...... You said the old ladies dog wasn't under control but clearly it was.

I was talking of the people who, said if a dog goes up to another on the lead, its the dog that goes up to its fault if something happens, which is true to an extent, however if you have a dog that cannot be trusted with others it would be best to keep away from areas with off lead dogs. Each owner is responsible for the behaviour of their own dog, if you can predict what might happen you should minimise that risk and wandering about with a poorly socialised dog in an area with off lead dogs seems daft to me. Not that I have to worry as my dog does neither. Although she has been chased by a couple of German shepards in recent times when my girlfriends been walking her. I'm waiting meet that owner and have a quiet chat. The horses thing is my bug bear when I've had one women have a go at me for stopping on my bike as I was scaring her stupid animal and then 5 mins later another has a go at me for going past it slowly..... these people might want to consider avoiding busy places if the horse is so scared of bikes.

No, it's not the dogs fault if something happens..........It's the fault of the owner who lets their dog run out of control and approach other dogs. It's all a question of acting responsibly.

you should show your elders some respect mate if the shoe was on the other foot you would of acted the same

I can't help but imaging how someone would feel if it was their nan or auntie who you verbally bollocked, especially since it was YOUR dog off lead in a public area.

my dogs are allways kept on a lead from now on as a yorkie once tryed his luck with my bull x and deer x.. sadly it ended up dead but my dogs showed no intention of an arguement.. it tryed its luck from behind. and one fought back so my other joined in which is often the case.. there was no arguements though as both owners had our dogs off leads... and a 4ft nothing old woman shouldnt be owning an alsation FULLSTOP if that thing wanted too f*ck off and chew on some young kid it would do it with ease... jon

Sorry but you dont have to be tall to be a good dog handler and why would she be four foot! I'm not young and I know of several women in their sixties with German Shepherds trained beyond the level of Police dogs. People should keep their dogs under control as you do now. I live within ear shot of a popular dog walk and some of the very common arguments you hear between dog owners are outrageous, some people seem to think they have a right to let their dog race around causing trouble just because if is friendly (and usually completely out of control) I dont want to be jumped all over by dogs when I'm out for a walk yet if you say anything to these people you would think it was their child you were insulting. One lady walking with sticks was nearlly knocked over, the dog owner apologised but on walking away was heard to say "she shouldn't come here she knows there are dogs" Dogs should be kept under control as mine are, my Deerhound is very friendly but I don't let him run over to people, if I see people approaching he is straight on lead, it's just basic good manners.

I can't see an issue with the '4ft little old lady'. Her dog was only acting as a dog should in response to a perceived threat.

What I have got an issue with is people not having respect for the elderly. We all know a right miserable old sod, but the respect comes from biting your lip even if you know you're in the right. Their used to be a saying something along the lines of the bigger person is the one that walks away. Gone out of the window these days though, it's all about being granted automatic respect & then having that so called respect 'dissed' Bollocks to it..

Well said mate, the smart arsed twats always say you earn respect, that's bollocks, everyone deserves respect from the off, even though they can quickly loose it.

its not about being a good dog handler... its about that dog wanting to f*ck off and do its own thing if it really wanted to it would and she would have no control over the dog. just think about it when it goes and bites some child because she cant hold it back.. if it was your child the dog did it to you would be saying the same thing as me so don't go jumping down my throat when i was putting my opinion across...

Basically if anybodies dog is on a lead and yours is off, then any trouble is your fault.

spot on  , i had it loads of times when my dog is on his lead, there dogs come over, all you get is (its all right he is friendly) you say well mine might not be.??? if you see other dogs keep them on the lead, more so if you work them alot.

100% true .... ive lost count of the times when a lab or little puffy dog comes over to mine , and wont leave her be , only for my dog to grawl or snarl . then the f****n owner come over and says my dog is agressive :censored: . lets face it, if i came over to you and started sniffing your arse youll probley give me a black eye :clapper::boxing:
