i new sombody that had a first cross ridgeback/greyhound i walked it everyday for a fortnight whilst they were away it was a nice looking animal. it did everything it was told until you got it in a field then it just did what it wanted.

i owned a half bred one ... bred out of a coursing grey (dam) x a ridge that was used for flushing deer (sire). he would pull deer with ease day and night (pre ban),catch rabbits no problem and even caught the occaional hare (lamped).

foxes he had only seen 6 in his life before i owned him and he was meant to be a spoon on them , i never tried him on them .

 

he weighed about 70lb id say and stood 26" tts but had plenty of pace and stamina.

he was a good gaurd dog aswell. bit dog agressive round certain dogs aswell.

 

alot of people seem to be doing the ridgeback/bull/grey but i cant see why as a bull x on its own is more than up to the job with out ridgeback in them

Ridgebacks and various crosses pop up here and there in Texas as hog dogs. It's hard to find a working ridgeback, but when you do they are generally late starters. That makes them fairly unpopular with hog doggers.

i've been on a hunt in south africa seen ridgebacks attack male baboons seen them go after hyena, however i would never own a british bred ridgeback.
