Richie10 345
Soak some cotton wool or toilet paper in peroxide, the hair dye will do, then leave it over night and it will be bright white. Quote Link to post
Treacle Trackpad 6
Peroxide for the skull as already mentioned. I have heard tell of dripping potassium permangonate down the antlers whilst under a running tap but coudn't confirm this. Any one on here use that method or is it cobblers? Quote Link to post

We use potassium permangonate on all our antlers which are cut off the stags to colour them afterwards for show. Buy the little crystals, i think you can even get it off ebay. you only need a small amount (tiny) for roe buck antlers. Firstly pressure wash them off, then get a mug or cup and put in a few pinches of the crystals, add a little water and it'll turn puple. Looks dodgy i know at that point, but then just grab the head and paint the antlers, as it dries you'll see the antler turning brown, does an absolute corking job. you wont be dissapointed. wireviz 8
May i add before you do it get some petroleum jell and just cover the last inch of the antler with it so that the stain dose not go on the tips once done just wipe off. Quote Link to post

Good point, I was having a think about how to stop them going brown all the way to the end. I'm goint to give this a go on some scabby spikes I cut off ages ago to make whistles with. Practice makes perfect I always go over with a light sandpaper at the end of the tips and also the pearling, only slightly mind. Just brings them out better in my view Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Those don't look too bad, except for the brown skulls. Personally I like a bit more of a light section on the points, but I guess that's personal opinion. You could probably bleach the skulls back to white, just have to be careful not to get the horn in the bleach, or you end up going round in ever decreasing circles! Quote Link to post
