wireviz 8
Any one on here do deer management very close to the public eg house factory M roads etc if so what extra precautions do you take. Quote Link to post
john robbo 30
I have a job clearing deer off a runway. The risk assesments are unbelievable. Anyway i use a moderator on my rifle, (don't normally). I also use my most powerful rifle with very frangible bullets....7mm rem mag 110gr hp TNT. This ensures NO runners even with boiler house shots and NO ricochets. I get paid to be there and per unit so venison is not an issue just a bonus. (H+S is the main priority). For me to cull it also takes 5 members of their staff to be presant in some form or other just for me to operate. Not cheap at 4.a.m. and double time. (but cheaper in cost and lives than a plane hitting a deer on take off or landing). Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
I think the two most important things to consider are a moderator and common sense. Quote Link to post

And don't forget , people might be watching from afar. Quote Link to post
wireviz 8
All kidding aside when i am out at the moment i feel like a poacher looking over my shoulder all the time its like days gone by .But it works we have taken near 40 deer off 300 acres and as to date we have only had one phone call to the police that was some one asking then to investigate multiple loud bangs at the back of here house. No one as see any dead deer apart from the ones that are meant to and we now only shoot one deer and leave so we dont have to may shots going off. I dont know if you can see it in the picture as i was 250 mtrs away but hat is a medal class buck in the bushes and restraint must be in order. Quote Link to post

mj robson 8
I'd say this time of the year is best to try and get a few grassed, 03:30 in the morning when most folk are tucked up in bed! What they don't know won't harm them. Cheers, Mark. Quote Link to post
