Ron Weasley 83
Hi all, not been on this site for a while. Good to be back though. Anyway, I'm having a bit of trouble with my BSA R10. I just filled her up with my Hills pump. Went to put a few shots through, and got nothing. Pellets hadn't moved more than 6 inches along the barrel. With these removed, I unscrewed the buddy bottle to check the 'O' ring, which seemed to be fine. Screwed it back in, and tried again. This time, the rifle is firing, but feels drastically under powered, with my shots dropping a yard short at 30yrds. Also, when I fire, I'm getting a strange 'zipping' sound from the rifle. It sounds basically to me as if there is some air being discharged somewhere that shouldn't be. I've already sent an email to Ben at BSA, but I thought I'd ask you guys, as there's some serious knowledge on here. Thanks! Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Alright fella. Seems a few people are having problems with these rifles. Is yours still in warranty? If you've not had it long then I'd take it back to the seller first. At least he'll be able to chrono it and tell you how it's running. Is it definitely up to pressure? If you've had it a while it's still worth taking it along to get chrono'd. It might need a good service. If it's been sat for a while, there's the possibility that on or more O rings have perished and are leaking. That's a job for someone with the right tools and good knowledge. Hope you get it sorted, nothing more frustrating than a gun that won't shoot right! Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
An air leak could be one of many things but possibly the easiest thing for you to try is the O ring on the end of the bolt which pushes the pellet into the barrel and seals up the breech. Check for cracks splits etc and replace if necessary! Darryl Quote Link to post
