f.a.c.sam 1
I've got a silhouette, same rifle except the barrel isn't nickel plated. I've found out of all the round the eley subsonic hollow points seem to be the best for me. I went through the process of trying all the different rounds out when I first got the rifle as different rounds suit different rifles, even people with the same rifle often find that their rifle doesn't like the same rounds their mate's does. The main criticism people have of the eley round is the fact they are actually a fairly dirty round compared to other 22 rounds, leaving quite a lot of fouling in the barrel, they also give off a bit of a strange smell. Doesn't bother me to be honest but puts some people off. Best advice I can give is to try a variety of different rounds to see what your rifle likes, you've got to break in the barrel if its a new rifle, which should take a few thousand rounds before it really settles down. theinvisiblescarecrow 0
Mine isn't ammo fussy but deffo doesn't like Remmie or Magtech subs. I tend to get Eley but have used Winnies & mast of the others with success. RWS are a little slower than most other subs. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
i use to have a 22lr style. and eleys where suprb in it;. worth to try a box of winchester's tho see how they go. but most the time you wont go wrong with eleys Quote Link to post
hunter1 63
ELEY shoot the BEST in my cz style. RABBITS DO NOT LIKE THEM. :drink: Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Remington and winchester for me like. Remi`s are slightly better. Better grouping and feel a bit harder hitting without any noticable increase in noise. ATB Quote Link to post
AzMaN 0
i used to use ely subs but now im on RWS and tbh they are geting me 99-100's in bench rest comps, i mean zeroing. Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
My CZ Style shoots about equal on Eley and Winchester subs. So as the Winchesters are a bit cheaper, I stick to those. It might be the waxy lubricant having an effect, but I think the Winnies are a bit cleaner too. Quote Link to post
rioulike 2
i use winchester super x subs in my cz452,tried a few other brands but found winchester to be the best Quote Link to post

IanB 0
Eley are the best, I've found.... Quote Link to post
irishnut 297
i've tried 5 or 6 different bullets and have to say winchester super x is my favourite, but get your full licence quota in 1 sale if you can, with same batch, found massive difference from batch to batch atb Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Mine is a Sub Sonic field tool and I find Magtech 40g HP perfectly adequate. I have nearly 3 boxes of Eley Subs left if someone wants to make me a sensible offer, they are no more accurate in my Silhouette than the Magtech and they have less stopping power! You need to find what works in your barrel!!! Quote Link to post
RicW 67
While we're on the subject, has anyone tried the Remington-Eley Competition subs? Ric Quote Link to post
