Hi Lads

 

 

Me & Andy (rossy08) went up to my farm permission for a few hours on Sunday morning. We didn't get an early start, I was just feeling knackered and Andy was working at a bar till gone midnight and after a few beers himself got to bed about 2 am. We eventually got there at about 8.30am.

 

We have a little tally comp going whenever we shoot together, who will win today

 

We decided on a particular group of fields where we'd had some success before. Andy said we should try the hedgerow at the far end. Off we went, both with new guns in hand. I'd recently brought a BSA ultra multishot and Andy only the day before picked up a nice s410. A quick zero check and we were ready.

 

We walked to the edge of the field and went through a gap in the hedge. This gap led to an old back entrance to the fields, a bit a of a dumping area for fly tippers in the past, tyres wheels and even an old fridge freezer. We decided to splitt up I went left Andy right. Both sides of the track are bordered by thick hedges with plenty of evidence of rabbits.

 

I soon settled on a lying possition to the edge of the track, I could see Andy about 200 yards behind me. About 30yrds in front of me was the fridge freezer laid on it's side, both doors missing.

 

After about 5 minutes I noticed a couple of red ants going about there business, brilliant I'd laid in an ants nest. I was about to move when I saw a full grown rabbit next to the fridge, I decided the ants weren't such a problem and took aim. Our furry friend was being very well behaved and sat sideways on to me giving a nice clear shot to it's head. A quick wave bye bye with it's back legs and game over. Yes I thought 1-0 to Gringo, I turn to Andy and gave him the 1 sign with my finger only to see him holding a nice sized bunny, 1-1

 

Things went quiet so we decided to move, we walked to the opposite side of the fields and again split up. I found a nice spot to lie down and wait, I'd had some success there before. Not to long a wait and a youngish rabbit came into view. I took aim but he moved from my view, a minute later he was back, so again took aim, shot, missed, straight over his head. Off he went, b*****d. Thats it I thought a long wait now, not so. Another 3/4 grown bunny came and sat in exactly the same spot, no mistake this time 2-1 to me.

 

I'd not even got to my feet when I saw Mr Ross walking back, bunny swinging from his hand, bugger 2-2.

 

Andy suggested we head back to the old track and give it another try. Off we trecked and very soon I was laid back in the ants nest, some people never learn. Ten minutes past and I saw something move in the fridge, an old shelf was blocking my view so I waited, a small kit came out after a while. Still sat in the fridge the little fellow got the good news. 3-2, surely.

 

I was pleased to see Andy empty handed this time. "You can't count that" he protested when he saw the size of my last bunny.

 

A nice morning out, new rifle's christened and 3-2 to Gringo, what could be better.

nice write up buddy and very nice shooting from you and andy and great looking picture too and them guns look very nice to looks like andy might be keeping the s410 then when you see him ask him if he has a spare s410 stock or 400 stock hanging around buddy as i am after one for a project and dont want to pay to much for one and great shooting lads

Good to see more people beginning to document their exploits, now we can tell our whinging spouses, we only go there for the stories, its not like we stare at the pix of the dead bunnies. I seem to think I used similar lines when my old teacher found a porno mag in my desk at school

hi mate nice shooting both of you,great pics and write up....how you getting on with the ultra bud,i got one not long ago but had trouble with the mag scipping so got a new one,and the silencer was clipping as well but they are crap anyway so got one that comes on the hw 100 rifle,now its super quite...

was a good morning shooting had fun, and yes the 410 wont be going any where. knew i shouldent have taken it out.
