matt_hooks 188
I've posted on here about a few misses, so I thought I'd have a look at everything and see what was going on. I suspected myself, but I think I've proved that wrong! Set up my target at my usual 25 yard zero, slipped a couple of .22 BSA Interceptors into the old girl and went for a group. Following is the result, ignore the writing on the target, I was planning on doing some comparative tests on different pellets, but the group was so shocking I changed the plan. Group the first! That's more than 2 inches, something's not right there. I wonder if the pellets are at fault? Try some RWS Super H Points, proven accurate in this gun. Hmmm, nope. Ok, we'll try out some old flatheads I have knocking around. I don't even know what make they are! Group the third. First two shots keyhole, ok, so maybe it's pellets then, though the other two have been very accurate in the past. Better put another one down and see where it goes. The third is the top left, now I'm fairly sure I didn't pull it, but anyway, try another. The bottom right is the result. Ok, so this is getting silly now. Decide that I can't be shooting that badly, and have a good look at the rifle. Check the stock screws, nice and tight, nothing loose, and then I get to th moderator. Now if anyone knows the Axsor, it has a Walther barrel that seats in the action on an o-ring, and the muzzle is held in place by a bored piece of metal, not sure how to describe it, lets call it the threaded collar (see pic, it's the cone shaped bit between the shiny barrel and the mod!). This is then attached to the integral gas bottle which holds it all rigid. Anyway, there's a good couple of mm play on the mod! The collar is attached to the bottle through the filling hole with an allen bolt, so I grab my handy set of allen keys and tweak it up. It's by no means loose, but I clamp it down until the mod no longer has any play. Right, let's see how that works out! That'll be three rounds through the same hole, guess I've found the problem then! Just need to get some loctite to stop it working loose again! Happy now, off to find some bunnies! Quote Link to post
