shandy1499 0
over the course of the last season i was asked about taking people out ferreting in my local area problem is i guess that i would need insurance to cover them in case thay hurt themselves whilst out ferreting but on the other hand it may get people interested in the world of ferreting and pest control and a greater understanding of what we do and why ,but you would need to charge them for this to cover the insurance fuel etc etc ,your views please Quote Link to post

shandy1499 0
i already have insurance through an organisation that i belong to but it covers me not out to make money off of this idea the people that would like to go out dont do ferreting and dont really know me so i would need to cover my self as you never know what could happen and i also was approached by my daughters secondary school head teacher recently asking the same qeustion but i am not prepared to pay out money i earn my money off of rabbit sales and net making in my area and making drop traps etc so looking to charge enough to cover the insurance and get people interested in what we do and why Quote Link to post

shandy1499 0
that kay is a good idea not thought of that cheers and by the way very interesting blog kay thanks for your replys to my post but i also know this could spark a debate that could get complicated ,especialy if my insurance does not cover this.the problem is alot of people out there that dont go ferreting shooting etc etc seem to get ever further removed and have little or no understanding of what we do ,just be nice to pass skills on to others and get people intersted so that it can carry as it does now but thats just the view from a gamekeepers son and an active countryman or in your case country women ,i know there are loads of us currently active but i just feel that it is slowly slowly slipping away Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
I've taken quite a few people out with me ferretting in the last couple of year's and its hard now not to be cynical, most have let me down either going back to my permission or getting angry when I've taken some other beginner who needed a few pointer's on how to get started, for every 10 lads, there's probably 1 decent 1,I think insurance is a waste of money,as I don't charge anyone anything then I don't see it as a problem,if they want to get it its down to them, they are aware of the risks, atb, wirralman Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
another very good idea thank you very much. Its just that i used to ferret for a hawking club and had to join so their insurance would cover me on feild meets though i would think theirs an higher risk element with B.O.P than their is just with ferrets and nets.atb dell Quote Link to post

It's a difficult one - we all want to preserve our ways and sport for the future and so wish to ensure new folk try it out etc etc but also there is the blatant fact that popularity creates its own serious problems . . . look at the way the lurcher world has gone . . . stubby 175
Id say, forget the whole idea, just stick to inviting members from here, out on ferreting days, as doing what you propose can only mean trouble, as you sound like it would be more than a one off, say you take out 10 people x 10 times per season, and one from each party take up ferreting, thats ten more lads/lasses in your area wanting permission, and they may all, not give a shite if its legal or not, one area in essex I shoot, the local farmers are ANTI FERRET because off the amount of kids walking around with a fert, leaving ferts behind, as well as mess, and illegal poaching, makes ferreting by us, almost impossible Quote Link to post
