leec 132
seen every kind of x you can imagine on lamp pretty much from home bred collie xs to top lamping strains from all over the country, suffice to say only the ones with saluki in there make up could handle a hard nights lamping the way we do it, not the other xs werent any good the saluki xs just shone through, i dont mean half x saluki,it could be quarter or as less as one eighth 1 Quote Link to post

poacher3161 1,766
Thats why i would always recomend lurcher to lurcher bred dogs with saluki in the mix also the beddy hybreds i have found most have a good recovery rate and stamina for a lot of lamping these crossed with saluki hybreds and a bit of collie in the mix can make very handy dogs Quote Link to post
romany52 313
When I was younger, at the same time I was running dogs, I also ran for my local athletic club, track, road and cross country. Just to give an idea of my fitness standard, my times for 10k-32mns, 10mls-56mns, 20mls-2hrs,you get the picture, well I've taken dogs on long training runs, bedlington, deerhound, collie and saluki crosses. The only ones that I didn't have to stop and wait for were the saluki crosses. It might sound far fetched to you lot, but believe me it's true. Edited June 13, 2010 by romany52 Quote Link to post
coursing_lad 45
get a good one and your laughing , but good and bad in ALL mix of lurcher , personal preferance and ground been ran are key factors , way i see it , pointless taking a 32'' deerhound to lamp small feilds with plenty of hedges , common sense tells you to opt for a smaller flighty type such as whippet crosses , or tight collie crosses . imo - you cant fault saluki blooded dogs , BUT each mix have their uses , KEY FACTORS such as game been ran , type of land , are all important , CL Quote Link to post
billy bronk 76
just wondering what do saluki blood bring to a lamping dog.and do many people use it .i no they have more [stamina]but i dont think to much is needed in a lamping dog [unless you are out 4 stupid numbers] i would like to no cos i have never seen a lamping dog with saluki in it.like to hear ur thoughts plenty of stamina a keen eye sight being able to spot move objects in long distances Quote Link to post
