Stamina running ability plus it can cut down muscle mass on a greyhoundy bred dog their for giving it a better recovery rate wich is esential in a lamping dog thats getting run on a lot of rabbits in a short space of timethumbs.gif atb dell

Saluki collie mix, if you are Lamping the larger edible stuff, covering a large area, is hard to beat, very good stamina, and a quick recovery rate, good feet, and far less injuries due to there fitness, (( of course you have top dogs with just grey/saluki, grey/whippetx Saluki, and so on,

It really depends where you are lamping and how many run you can get as to how much stamina a lamping dog needs, where I am the dog is getting a quick fire succession runs one straight after another and as I lamp alone mostly with just one dog they are not getting much of a rest between runs if any rest at all, a dog with without much stamina will blow up pretty quick under those conditions.

They you have the running sense and durabilty allowing you to work rabbits where you might get away with with a Grew or highly greyhound saturated dog etc. like deep stoney plough, steep hole ridden bankings, hedge bottoms and woods.

I've got a fair few video's of my Saluki's lamping on You Tube.

I've lamped saluki bred dogs, they are as good as any. I believe saluki blood is useful in any working lurcher used for any purpose, all right the amount might vary, but all the superdogs I've ever come across have had some saluki in them.

spot on dell  even if you dont get big numbers, some runs can quite hard on a dog, with run after run. Recovery Rate is very inportant in a good lamping dog.

Its the best you'll get from me I'm affraid, it not easy working the lamp and in some cases holding an other dog plus working the camera, so I just hang the camera around my neck and press record and hope for the best. My focus is on killing rabbits so movie making has to take a back seat sorry.

a good mate of mine had a nearly full bred saluki bred for day time only,he lamped it but it was hard work, hes a very good dog lad and kept on lamping it turned out to be a real good en day and night.its the man behind the dog half the time, saluki bred stuff needs a bit more training,i had a saluki whippet greyhound and i could lamp her off the lead on her own. you can run this cross all night if you want.where as other crosses you ll prob go through a few in a good nights lamping.

Some realy good points here...If these dogs are brought up properly, not rushed, entered in the correct way and with plenty of patience they can and usualy do make at least as good a lamping dog as any other x,
