zini 1,939
Yes im thinking about that mate. Problem is though i have sold my night vision rifle scope Will have to borrow a gen 3 model from work and then do a night time shoot one weekend. At all of 9 lased metres mate it would of been lazy and daft not to kill the rat with a humane head shot. At these ranges on x6.5 mag its just about impossible to miss the rats head. pointer 543
you dont need night-vision,especially on rats(or anything else) that isnt lamp-shy.i really do feel that all forms of rifle shooting have gone NV crazy. Its a handy tool but certainly not always necessary.i shoot enough rats without NV to know its not essential airgunning kit. lets face it we are only trying to kill a rat,the dumbest quarry species anybody can hunt FACT.technology designed to allow special forces in the cold war to kill people could be overkill in many situations.i like that my quarry knows its being lamped,i honestly feel im being unsporting when i fit a dimmer switch to my lamp. zini 1,939
Everyone to their own mate I think. I always use a dimmer on my deben lamp. Regarding shooting rats I want to get some footage using nv for the new DVD. I'm trying to show different aspects of shooting. This is pest control here anyway at the lake so what ever helps is always welcome mate. Si Quote Link to post
pointer 543
i agree mate each to their own,i was just making the point that effective pest control can be carried out without NV and lamps will often give more flexibility. Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Was it just me read the title as "a rat and a crap" ??? Haha anyway, now I've given you a glimpse into my mind... Good shooting. Old scaly tail is my one "shoot on sight, every time" quarry. Mr bunny gets lead painkillers most times, but there are times when I will leave him, but ole ratty gets the .22 present whenever I see him! Dunno about rat bait. Take the dog biscuits off and that looks like a good sarnie to me. Sod it, leave the dog biscuits too! Got ratty making house under my shed, little git is too shy to let me get a crack at him. Reckon the dog'll either catch him or dig so far under the shed that it subsides on him any day now! Quote Link to post
garfield 23
i found sardines in oil put through a blender to be the best stuff to get the buggers out into the open or mix in a bit of cat food ps dont get it on your clothes or skin it reeks  Quote Link to post
