An evening at a new permission

Recommended Posts

Last night me and my shooting buddy, mcscottybhoyno1 on here, went for a walk round a newly acquired permission.

Its a small wooded area next to 3 houses. The woods area jointly owned by the owners of 2 of the houses, who have both gave us permission to shoot and ferret there, they already have people shooting and ferreting there but they are only there occasionally apparently. They both have very nice, well kept gardens and 2 allotments and are totally demented by the damage the rabbits cause so they say the more people helping the better.

Anyway we decided to go up for the first time tonight, and there seemed to be plenty of rabbits there, mostly kits.

We had a wander and found a large warren and decided to find a spot and wait. Was only waiting about 5 mins before a kit popped out, i sat and watched it for about 15 mins, dodging in and out of behind plants until i could get the shot, and bang! perfect shot and it was down, kicking like feck!

We waited outside for another while but nothing appeared so we went for another wander. We seen a good few but they seemed to see us before we seen them. I know my fieldcraft isnt the best but i found it hard to move about the woods quietly wihout being seen, with all the branches etc that were more or less unavoidable.

I ended up going back to the spot where i got the last one and scott went a wander. I was waiting for about 20 mins or so and another kit popped out. I watched it for about 5 mins then it disappeared, and then reappeared about 5 mins later. When it came time to take the shot.......I missed!! :wallbash:

I went back to get scott and we decided to go and get the lamp and g back to the same spot. Its a Logun lamp, and as i took it out the box, a pin that holds it together fell out and i couldnt find it :wallbash: im hoping its not too hard to find a similar pin. so i held the lamp and scott was the shooter

We went back and waited outside the warren, some popped out and then were out of sight again. We waited for a while, and after a bit of waiting, and one missed shot, we called it a day and left.

So all in all a good night, 1 in the bag and a very promising permission. Some pics below

Good write up mate.

I hope the land owner has contacted the other people who have permission there, as you dont want to bump into them and get into an argument over who has the permission :whistling:

Cheers Shay. Thats the Ultra Scott spoke to you about, we wernt getting any accuracy with RWS H points but as soon as we put RWS Superdomes through it they groups became a lot tighter.

Good shot, you will have to wait out where you saw all the bunnies beating a retreat and see if they re-appear, you may be able shoot a sackfull

Cheers, yeh im hoping after ive been a few times and find good spots to lay up i'll start getting good bags. Think i will get some good ferreting there next season.

Cheers mate. Good point, i doubt they have to be honest, but i would have thought since i have permission and the landowner knows im there, it wouldnt be anyone else's place to complain about me being there? They may not be happy about it but its not their place to complain

Yeah your T10 does look great, i had a look at one when shopping for guns. The next thing for the S200 is hopefully a new scope, not sure what one yet, and then the 10 shot mag. Then maybe eventually send it off to get reg'd and it will defo be a keeper!
