Best Dog Ever Owned

Recommended Posts

depends on your own view on how good your dog really is. the gamest dog i ever had was a deerhound x greyhound unfortunately broke his leg which ended his career. the best dog i ever had was a whippet x greyhound unfortunately no longer with me. he was one of those dogs you get once in a lifetime :( still brings a tear to the eye! i also think anyone who has owned a dog like that uses it as a benchmark for the rest of there dogs. the dogs i have now are all very capable of doing there job but i always expect more after owning my whippet greyhound! its all relevent to the standard you expect from your dog. some people have high standards others are happy with a half hearted dog.

Had a bitch years ago, she wasnt the fastest dog, ugly as sin , bad feet and breath , short tail, but she had a real good attitude to work and the harder the better, she really opened my eyes to hunting and how the right attitude in a lurcher could surpass its physical limitations, she could draw with the best of them, lock on and hold big sika till the troops arrived, you could throw her over a ditch and she'd land running then straight back in the the van, lived to work ,did'nt want affection of any sort, game as they come, great with kids and sadly missed,, she was first cross beddy greyhound,,

My dogs are pretty rubbish, however the saluki cross has been taught by the wife to sit and shake hands which is pretty nifty.

My other dog also has the nack of scaring off all the game in a 2 mile radius, I reckon he is in league with the anti's.

Just a quick question, i hear alot of talk about people bragging their dog up that its the best, nothing can touch it etc but is the dog you got now your best ever working dog you have owned or was the best dog uve had was in the past?

"I hear alot of talk about people bragging their dog up that its the best"

Most of the time folk are not saying they are the best dog ever they simple very pleased with their dogs and rightly pround of them.

This is the problem with the mentally of some on this forum, they cannot simply be happy for someone that has great pride in their own dogs and makes posts to that effect, instead they get their backs up and tear strips out the person and their dogs. I just don't get that mentally at all.

Which is why hardly anyone will post on this thread.

Labradoodles aren't running dogs, maybe an agility class or obedience.

I thought you thought catching prey with running dogs was cruel?
