Rabbit Order

Took the 22 rabbits we got yesterday to the butchers this morning, got squared up then the butcher pop the question, I need 100 rabbits for the 2nd December at 8:30 sharp he says, No problem says aye LOL

 

 

I recon 2 full days ferreting is on the cards thursday and friday and il shoot some both nights

 

 

Question.

 

How long do rabbits keep when gutted and hung up, will they be ok for 2 days hung up in me dads shed (cold and dry)?

 

 

Please help

hi devvo the rabbits should be ok for a couple of days,as long as the shed is cool.I left one in my shed for 4 days and it was fine,took some skinning though

Dont leave it for more then 4 days and make sure it is cold and no flies what so ever.

i'd be fecking gutted if i turned up with 100 bunnies and he said oops i've changed me mind mate... just teasing mind you, my warped sense of humour..good luck with the challenge though, and there was me thinking i'd done well this year just approaching 150 rabbits to date, just goes to show the numbers of rabbit that some must have running around their perms.....

Rabbits normally keep for 3 or 4 days when its cold, but at the moment they are going iffy after only 24 hours.

 

If your butcher is close I would take them to him after each day out.

yeah i would agree with that, i've just had to throw 2 that were in the outside cupboard for a few days and they've started to turn a bit mank smelling etc, i sometimes leave them for a few days as it takes forever to defrost the gits before feeding the ferts. It has turned mild again as i have turned the c/heating down the last few days.

Devvo make sure they are hanging and not in a pile because they will heat up and start to turn the meat if they are in a pile
