ferreting in june

funny, but in the last 4 yrs, Ive ferreted every summer, yes the hob I use will kill undergrown, but then moves on, Ive never dug a ferret out, because it had killed and was eating, maybe Im just lucky

Or maybe its because you know what you are doing.A starved ferret eats what it kills.A small ferret takes forever too kill.(always digging) A good ferret kills if it has to and moves on (dig if you want to).I have never ever had a ferret kill and sleep with the kill summer or winter Maybe I'm just lucky. P1

same here. this time of year the jills have young on so i take out the hobs my mate used to call my hobs til he saw them in the field and no i havent had to dig but saying that i always carry a spade in the motor just incase. but yes get on and do it even if you only take 1 of so you can show the landowner that your on the job then you keep the land

rang them both today told them will be there at weekend

thanks everyone

probably will lay some snares during the weekend as well in the hard to get places

got a couple of friends with me this weekend so should make life a bit easier

Ive started summer ferreting this year and the hob that i use either kills and moves on or he will drag them out if they dont bolt, i always feed him before i go though.

I just swap over to lamping or trapping the burrows with fen mk6's no worries about ferreting and the farmer still see's you out and about .A big worry for me is the ferrets travelling in a hot car

Exactly, there are many more efficient methods of rabbit control for this time of year.
