Attack Fell Terrier 864
If you're incapable of docking the pups yourself, then why didn't you find one out before you went through with the mating? Best of luck with the pups though. Quote Link to post

It's right though, I really don't want to sound like I'm trying to start trouble or moan, but it's just a pointer to people who don't think everything through, then have to rush about trying to get the tails docked. CorkyJohn 808
If you're just breeding for yourself/mates for work it shouldn't be an issue doing them yourself. It's if you're intending to sell the pups or you're show orientated you'll require a vet to issue certificates. I suppose this is where lads who genuinely only breed for themselves score over peddlers Quote Link to post

Hi All I am quite capable of docking them myself i have done enough terrier and spaniel pups in the past but two of the people who want pups want it done legal one is an airline pilot the other a fairly high ranking copper they both come ratting with me and don't want to be answering awkward questions in the future. It is ok for people who have nothing to lose( dolies and dossers and people with bad backs who have never done a legal days work in years but on a dig can use a spade like a demon. The pups are not due until august 3rd so i am not exactly having to rush am i.Anyway it would be really silly of me to get caught with a litter of illegaly docked puppies and then lose my shotgun and firearms for the sake of a few quid wouldn't it. Fair play to you mate......Cant realy see why your being knocked for wanting to do things properly fella.Ive docked more terriers for myself and friends than I care to remember but since the new law come in I get my vet to do them. I think he charges me a tenner a pup and I buy their wormmers and frontline whilst I'm up there. ATB Quote Link to post

ATB It's the best way mate, I've read of a couple of cases where folks have been done for cruelty and been banned from keeping dogs, it's just not worth it. Quote Link to post
