Hi ....i put a thread on here a couple of weeks back regarding which airgun....choice was between a hw95 and a bsa lightning....now ma head has been all over the place ....initially i had made my mind up by going to order the hw95 k.....that was until this morning when a good friend of mine offered me a bsa superten (mk1 i think) in .22.The airgun was going to come with a harris bipod ,but no scope....he assured me everythin worked on the gun ,also there was no leaks, and he was lookin for between 250 - 300 notes ....Now i dont know if this is a good price or not but one thing i forgot to ask is if the gun is ambidexturous or solely for a right handed shooter...so again can someone who has used one of these guns enlighten me a little more on their reliability , accuracy ....many thanks Davy

If you want a reliable springer mate go for the HW95K.

Just got a second hand one myself about 1 week ago pal.

Top rifle and very, very accurate and consistant.

In my opinion its the best LIGHT weight springer on the market by far.

And as far as spring piston rifles go as a whole one of the top 5 or 6

well i had a bad experience with a super 10 so my opinion is biased :tongue2: they are not ambi stocked and the mk1 is the worst one its prone to leaks and its bloody heavy :censored: but it can be made to a fantastic rifle by sending it to john bowkett so he can replace the parts that bsa saved money on in the mass production aka the blue print but if you ask me and i wouldnt(i've changed rifles more than my socks :clapper: )the 95 would be the better choice :victory:

If your starting out / not been doing it for ages and you want some quality get a new HW95K. Even a good quality second hand one will be fine.

As Zini said they are the best springer probably in the world for there rough weight group. Sure a 97k may beat it slightly on the FT range but its a different gun. What we mean by that is that some spring guns that are made by the same company e.g Weihrauch, are heavier and use the same sort of technology. Some of these guns e.g HW80. HW97 are alot heavier to use, which some people think is better, and some think is worse. They are just different tools for the same job and sometimes slightly different jobs (for example lots of Field Target competition shooters are buying the 97 in the thumbhole stock to practice theyre technique with a gun that feels the same-ish as theyre expensive PCP guns, but doesnt allow them to be lazy with their technique as its a springer). The HW80 is one of the best springers of all time and the 95k is based on it just a lighter gun.

Go with the 95k and you wont regret it, I carved my teeth on it and years later still shoot it everyday if I can!

I would love however to see Air Arms make a lightweight springer, like a more lightweight version of the Prosport. They are the only people that build springers as good as Weihrauch in my opinion!

See, the HW95 is good, but I'd personally go for a Lightning converted to a gas ram. You can pick the rams up for £30 or so quid, and it's a 10 minute job to fit it and gives you a totally different gun. Nice and light, easy to handle, very "pointy", pretty quiet, especially with the gas ram, and perfectly capable of taking bunnies at any sensible airgun range. Also you can get a good Lightning, and do the conversion, and put a decent scope on top for much less than a second hand 95.

Matt I have to disagree with you there buddy.

In my personal opinion a gas rammed Lightning doesn’t even sit in the same league as the HW95K buddy.

The HW95K is built to last and handle anything thrown at it, has one of the best spring rifle triggers on the market to date less for maybe the computer designed (CD) trigger that Air Arms uses.

The accuracy and quality of the German HW barrel is far better than the barrel that the Lightning uses at the moment.

The lock up on the barrel is smoother and more precise on the HW that the Lightning too.

I would never ever choose a Lightning over a HW95K mate.

I’ve owned 1 Lightning in the past when they were first designed and sold and better than the current versions. Don’t get me wrong buddy I killed a hell of a lot of vermin with it and it wasn’t a bad rifle, but ive owned the following HW95Ks:

A SFS tuned Spectre carbine (custom HW95K) in .177

A standard HW95K in .22

A SFS tuned HW95K in .177

And I now own a standard .22 HW95K soon to be tuned by SFS.

I take my shooting very seriously buddy and I rate the HW as you can see very highly.

This is just my personal opinion though buddy and opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one.

Dammit....run out of SPA's for today too.... :icon_redface:

On the other hand mate I have a Mk1 BSA S10 in .22 I bought it 2nd hand and have had NO bother with it whatso ever

Mine is currently with A & M Custom Gunsmiths getting blueprinted/tuned so to speak and a few other things done and hopefully it will be back in my hands by Saturday!

They are a very accurate rifle mate much the same as the R10 so don't be put off, as for the price it's a steal for that mate!
