Bet that hurt! Top shot, well done. :notworthy:

Cheers for all the replies, yes a big bird all over you can do some damage  ..it was my camera I was more concerned about though..by the way, the bird was ok too, just flew off throwing every epithet of damnation at me. I had my 300mm on at this point, should have had the wide angle on and got all the wings in, never mind

No see i like the crop of the image, the bird filling the frame and giving a sense of descending on you . . . . which is exactly what it was doing! A full frame would imo have made it much less dramatic, and simply a study of a bird in flight.

I know exactly what you mean, and thats why I kept it..as a wildlife photographer I tend to study Laurie Campbell, not just taking biological images of birds in typical poses, but getting those more intimate shots as he does..and I love them, but, I do enter a lot of camera club competitions and federation competitions, and if you so much chop the tip off a wing you are marked down by most of the circuit judges. It would never win a comp, but photography is all about what the author likes, and if no one else does, what the hell. and with this one, I like it..

And thats the beauty of photography and the reason i'm in love with it, the way images can be perceived in hundreds of different ways, simply by the a different eye viewing it. :notworthy:

I've seen Laurie Campbell's stuff before, very nice. I really like Steve Bloom . . maybe because I worked in Africa and its avery special place to me, but his recent work based there, for me gets under the skin and captures the essence of the continent. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

The jaunty crop and images like number 16 in this gallery, IMO go where other wildlife photographers don't . .its fresh, vivid and exciting! :notworthy:

And the wild dogs hunting . . . explicit it is, but having seen the same thing with my own eyes, it is spot on! :clapper:
