Guest Studentsnaresman
Hi All, I am brand new to snaring. My main methods are to ferret in the winter months and to use a air rifle in the summer months, and have access to over 1000acres of land. Unfortunatly Im not making the impact im really looking for on the farms with the biggest problems. So I would like to turn my hand towards snaring because they can work for me when im not there, and I may even get the odd big bag. It also seems to be a more purer form of countrysport as you dont have any gizo's or animals doing the work for you. I would be very greatful to find were I could source some good referance material eg DVD's or Books. If there is any snaremen in the south of the country (Hampshire) I would love to carry your kit for a day or two to learn some tricks from you. Great site, Im glad to find it. Many thanks, Nik Quote Link to post

The other day I stopped of at a gate into one of my new plots and counted 62 rabbits quite happy munching on the grass. Unfortunatly had the wife and kids in the car so I couldnt do a thing. I have to do as much as I can over the winter because Im off to Afghanistan in the spring for 6 months. Nik Quote Link to post

Mitch 0
Get onto Woodga, and get his snaring DVD. Also read Glen Waters Snaring information. And if you can get your hands on a copy of "Learning The Game" It has glenn waters teaching Phil snaring alot of rabbits. Very good information, Good luck with your snaring Quote Link to post

Guest Studentsnaresman
Had my first outing yesterday. Chalkwarren was given hints and tips to my ferreting methods on my land and how best to employ a long net. My learning curve was very steep. One of his more funnier comments were " If I were a real ferreter I would gather all my kit up and have a big fire in the middle of the field". :11: At least he did say my ferrets were working well. Afterwards we went for a mouch around the patch and he advised me were best to to stick some fence snares. The final score in the morning was Chalkwarren-2 Nik-1 for 9 wires. I would like to say thanks to Chalkwarren for his patients, and for when he stops laughing at my questions taking the time to explain and show me in detail the right answer. I consider myself a very lucky person to have him advise me directly on my field craft. Cheers, Nik Ps, If your a net maker reading this please introduce to me, as I have kinda gone of the ones I am using. Would like longnets, purse nets and so on. Quote Link to post
