jimlampit 7
the reason i ask thius question is there are lots of debate on greyhounds and saluki's not a lot of mention of bedlington and theres not much on pure working collies that are leaving good stock. you see sum wippets and a couple of greys lots of saluki's and they are all top class dogs so they say so why no hype about the the collie could you breed from any collie and if so why not just put it to greyhound and have a big strong dog instead of chancing somthing small and heavy Quote Link to post
Wild_and_Irish 11
I've seen a first x that was very heavy, had the coat and head of a collie, only give away were its eyes and the way it stuck it's tale between it's legs, it looked like a starved collie, didn't have much straight line speed, about equal to a rabbit but good stamina and first class turn and strike, I'd imagine a first cross back to a whippet would make good dogs. Some collies are built like labs , some like whippets. Use your loaf. Quote Link to post

Guest stewie
great pics mate what else was in the dog? cheers mate!! she had greyhound in her aswell and a touch of saluki. shame i sold her really ive ran her with some big bull crosses and she put quite a few of them to shame especially one night when out with a right pair of clowns i met through edrd called A and H they had two big half cross bull greyhounds and i only had her and they were laughing and saying all the usual comments dicks like that come out with "too small" "not strong enough" etc well we got to this land i no well and after an hour of lamping rabbits that they "let the rabbit dog run" (she had 7 out of 9 runs) we seen a fox and they slipped these two dogs and they hadnt seen it but my bitch was going mental on the lead so i slipped her and she ran straight down the beam and ran it well twisting and turning it and getting close. after a good minute of running these wonder dogs had caught up and gypsy pulled it but they just ragged it off her and killed it and she was having none of it and backed off and the next quote was unbelievable from H he says "that bitch is no good these two are still ragging it look"!!!! needless to say i never went out with them again just worked her single handed. i only sold her as her nervousness was just to much for me i prefer a dog who forgets things like being shouted out in a few minutes not three days after!!! good bitch on the lamp tho she did me proud many a time and now loving retirement at an old couples house i no doing a good job of keeping the rabbits and rats out of his all cabbage patch and squirrels of his bird feeders!! its not the size of the dog in the fight its the size of the fight in the dog Quote Link to post

poacher3161 1,766
So would you say this collie whippet is too heavy for rabbits? Is it a genuine f1x ped whippet/collie or a 3 quarter whippet/collie. Quote Link to post
