reddog70 236
hello does anyone keep japanese quail for laying and what are you feeding them? i have a few hens a few weeks from point of lay and have found differing advice on their diet to keep them laying.some have said chickens layers mash is fine most of these diets are 16% protien and have also heard that they need a specialist quail layers feed well above 2o% protein to thrive any advice please

neil cooney 10,416
I've had quail but can't say I kept them for laying but some soaked dog food (27%) mixed through your feed would certainly rise the protein and all fowl love it.

If I was you I would just feed them layers, don't increase the costs with anything else. I had quails on this diet for years .
