i have kapt pure saluki for just over 2 years ,so i know absolutly nothing atall about pure salukis /or any other typeof dogs ,this is all a figment of my imagination, but it kills the bordem ,so i come on to thl and write noncence , but it amusses me so think ill carry on :tongue2:

its daft to be arguing you both keep pure salukis there cant be that many folks in the uk have them to work its a shared interest and your both passionate about the breed

I've known of folk that have only had Salukis a matter of weeks that have just totally and utterly sussed them out and totally understand and are as one with their Saluki within that time, IMO in such a cases someone with 60 yrs could not tell that person how to get on better with Salukis in fact it could be quite the opposite in that the person could be so closed minded that they could do well to learn something from the person with only a few weeks experience.

With that in mind I'll not be arguing over who is the superior knowledge in Salukis. Much of what we know of Salukis as a landrace over a vast range of COO's is secondhand info (at best lol). There are diferent ideas regarding all the origins of these dogs, talk of purity etc etc. We will never know the truth for thats for sure which makes for great open minded debate for the summer months, it's really worth arguing and falling out over?

your right mark, people ether click with salukis or they don't but that has nothing to do with some-ones knowledge about salukis and the best way to train them, that takes time.

to say a salukis a cross bred just because it's smooth is stupid and misleading same as saying no other breed has been added at one time or anther. The burydown kennel produced a smooth from a long line of feathered salukis , its most likely happened many time in other saluki , and the other way round to. No one can say which came first and most hunters wouldn't give a dam if it was feathered or smooth as long as it can hunt.

When I used to go with the coursing clubs in the eighties, they always complained how the salukis would go on for miles on the hare and they would only give them selective runs.

Most of the dogs were deerhound or collie crosses, the amount of hare caught was minimal.

There is alot of talk about Salukis being crap but no one mentions what is this magic mix then that aren't plodders?

What x was doing it regular before the Saluki was added?

Sorry to derail, but I hear so many people knocking the salukis these days.

Riohog would love to see her run one day.

I agree with Brookie the Saluki, really improved the British bred Lurcher, for Stamina, is unbelievable, and runs very clever with its head up, yes they have there drawbacks, but these you overcome with patients and consistency in training, with the right mix the Saluki

x makes a great Lurcher, ((( but not for the Novice Handler,
