romany52 313
It's a few years now since I ran the fens, used to go down twice a week, got locked up a few times, just walking the dog don't wash when your 200 miles away from home. When your stood out on them fens in the middle of nowhere , you feel about 1" tall and that the whole world can see you. Edited June 4, 2010 by romany52 Quote Link to post

leedetek 9
believe me its very hot , i was lucky enough to have a lot of permission before the ban , but now as soon as anyone sees you with a running dog you d think a murder had been commited with the amount of police that turn up. J Darcy 5,871
The problem with running the Fens is that you don't want to see a hare run anywhere else. They kinda spoil it for a man IMO. The little postage stamp fields back home just aren't the same. Quote Link to post
fensaluki 35
It's topics like this that make me proud to be a 3 eyed fenman with one ear and a monobrow, webbed fingers and odd sized feet ATB Quote Link to post
Top Lamper 2k10 169
i reckon a good deerhound cross would do decent on the fens lyk what do you think Quote Link to post

ROBERTO M 350
The fact is if you have permission on the fens you should be ok , the police arnt realy that bothered if yr not poaching !!some will be but most dont give a shit !!! the only bad thing is you cant get on the real good land , what they call"BIG LAND" , the land were u ran before the ban ! its just to hot , and thats what the fens is about "BIG LAND" not shity bits of land were you would be better off running a whippet x grey , . The Fens to me is , slip your dog and be able to watch the course from start to finish ,last time i was on the fens ,on permission , it was shit ,if you got a run over a minute you were doin well , i say fens it wasnt , just land in lincoln , pr ban i wouldnt of dreamed of running there !!!!! As for the dogs you need , most saluki x lurchers are well enough bred , the top lads have bred lots of pups and people have bred of them , so getting a decent bred one shouldnt be to hard !!!! 1 Quote Link to post
inan 841
any where which is known for hare cousring is gona be a little more risky but to most who run the land your gonna say its hot so the likes of us dont ruine your sport which is fair enough but im taking it with pinch of salt as you guys course it so it cant be that bad If you don't think the Fens are hot then I don't know what to say to you. Operation Countryman is a 24 hr , on going thing with no expense spared. Still I suppose everyone should find out for themselves. if you do go, go in an old banger ,be prepared to say good bye to it ,and your dog, if it comes on top. Quote Link to post
ROBERTO M 350
The heavy police presence wont be as bad this year , a keeper from down there told a mate off mine , they cant afford to keep it up , Jamie , take a few quid down with you , go knocking offer the farmer £20 a man to run , you might get 20 knock backs but you might get 1 or 2 places that might lead to more , i no of a few farmers that let any one on for £20 , notall farmers are anti coursing !!! Snoops old chap, i dson't know of any dog that has taken 3/3 where i do most of my photography. Fields too small with tons of wire and a hedgerow within a few hundred yards of the hare...... I have a feeling our definition of "postage stamp"may not be the same.... Quote Link to post
