Two (or more) kills with one shot?

Recommended Posts

This topic is not about showing off, but is because I am curious to find out how common it is for a single shot to result in more than one kill.

In a recent rabbit shoot, as I took aim for a head shot while the rabbit was standing, another rabbit behind it started to raise its head. It ended up directly behind the first about 50cm further back. I squeezed the trigger and heard thack....thack and the two rabbits fell.

I was using hollow point subsonic .22 (Winchester X) as I had a few to use up. Normally I use Eley Subs, which in testing were found to expand more and penetrate less than the Eley. It is possible the Eley may not have given this double, instead slowing down more when it hit the first rabbit?

With a shotgun, due to the large number of pellets, I would expect it is far more frequent for multiple kills to occur, though hopefully not due to someone shooting 'into the brown' where it is much more likely to get woundings.

Has anyone else had any multiple kills from a single shot, and if so please let me know what it was and what gun/calibre it was?

whent out with a mate the other night and he shot 7 rabits with one 22 pelit i only sor 1 drop till he opend it up and 6 yong cum out lol

So did the single pellet bounce around inside the doe and actually kill all 6 embryos? If not they would then have died of exposure, malnutrition, or the fact your mate stuck a knife in them, rather than all being killed by the projectile from a single shot.

I'll be a little more specific - I am asking about direct kills of distinct animals rather than consequential ones such as the young of pregnant or 'in-milk' females.

May seem far fetched but once picked up 22 pigeons for two shots!

A huge flock I crept up to on rape one cold winter.

They all got up en mass at about 30yds off I picked out 2 as best I could!

They were so tightly bunched lots more got killed and pricked!

After the dog had done her bit I had 22 in the bag!

Hi,

I have twice killed 2 rabbits with one shot from my .22 lr. Didnt think I would ever do it again after the first time, but about two months ago I shot two 3/4 grown rabbits with one bullet at about 60 yards. Both times I've done this I have had witnesses, otherwise I dont think anyone would have believed me. :-)

Cheers

5 crows, one shot. 2 ducks on shot. 3 rabbits one shot. The former were shot with a 12 bore, the latter with a .22rf. We used to shoot over a quarry that was full with rabbits, it got so boring that my mate & I used to wait for the rabbits to line up before shooting.

My hunting partner Magwitch did it once, with his Anshutz rimmy,I was driving my 4x4 around the orchard he was shooting, he fired at one rabbit, I went to pick up and there was another dead behind it.
