hedz31 1,308
i dont think any dog is 100% stock proof, ive had 2 dogs go funny with stock 1 actualy killed a sheep the other just took a serious disliking to them and saw them as quarry but was never given the chance to fulfil his desire and both dogs i had from pup and both dogs were stock broke from a very early age and both showed no interest for quite a few years neither were young dogs either one being 5 years of age the other going on seven and neither had shown any animosity towards stock before and had completly ignored them often taking quarry in the same fields as stock i put it down to maybe them slowing down and not being able to perform like they were younger and frustration to kill maybe leaned them to the dark side who knows but it definatly gave me the feeling no dog is 100% 1 Quote Link to post

Sam was the replacement for my young dog aged 16 months, when he pulled the Tendon in his left shoulder, + muscle damage, and before his injury he had taken all edible game single handed, as for the electric collar, the truth is if you used that type of collar on him the chances is you would never, have seen him again, Lads when you have a nervous, and flighty dog on your hands, the last thing you want to use is an electric collar could work on other dogs but that fellow, I do not think it would work, and Shep had been reared by me from 6 weeks old, to 16 months and hunt a field off the road, and carry back to hand, he was a huge loss to me, this season would have really made that dog, and for the fellow who said about his chest, he had a fantastic, barrel chest, and look at the length, of his rib cage,, Quote Link to post
