ok yes thre are plenty of dogs that will put game in the bag , think this guy wants to know what line /breeding of lurchers do it well and have been proven to do it consistantly over a long period o

spot on fence hopper lad!! theres loads of lads who keep a low profile and out the lime light with there dogs.

im not chasing the next big thing and i have my two dogs and wont be needing another for probly another good 6 years unless injury to one of my dogs as mine both are young but when i do finally get an

Imo it doesnt matter how good your dog is...there,s always someone out there with better....keep your dogs well looked after and trained to a high standard and you wont be far off the mark.

Some of the best dogs are kept within a tight group of lads/lasses and are never passed out of that circle.

So in all fairness its a bit of a moot point as to who owns the best...atb stabba

age irelavent. do you have mates? are there dogs any good? if so get one of them. instead of chasing the next big thing. i have run a dog for 10 yrs an taken everything we had to offer here. the suluki boys talk names it dont interest me one bit, i know what a good dog is, so theres a slim chance of me owning shite. i even run a pure greyhound which works like a lurcher. so if i ever wanted a dog i'll take one from her and not be sucked in buy these big names

Their was the caithness dogs years ago a small whippety type that were good lampers and packed with stamina. As far as lamping dogs go you will find most did keep them selfes to their selfs as most of it years ago was poaching and a lot chose not to broadcast it however the hare coursing scene was a different matter especially with the video camera comeing out in the 80sthumbs.gif

not trying to ruin the thread at all but how many people have had good dogs that they knew nothing about ie random sale, dogs home etc???? best bitch i ever seen run was a rescued dog and im not just saying it but i bet most on here would of kenneled her and if only we knew then what we no know we would have pups out of her without a shadow of doubt. the thing is with lines is they have to start somewhere no one can argue with that so when you think about it it takes a good dog to create the line in the first place and if the pups never exceed the orginal pair of dogs then the line has failed in my opinion the best dogs are the ones no one knows about :thumbs:

would of though saluki boys would of been able to name few good dogs. most there's are line bred. topic going stale obviously there arnt that many well known dogs.

most of the saluki stuff is preety tight bred ,either tepe gawra ..kizzy pharoh ,or a combination of both lines , ther is some other lines recntly coming in or in the u/k working stuff , most is young stock , but seems to be doing ok from what i hear ,so the future looks promissing for some new blood in the origionall lines ,,time will tell ;)
