jay2k123 2
from what i know mate they are not the best of rifles.i myself have never had one so i can only tell you what i,ve read myself.apparently accuracy and power can vary greatly from rifle to rifle.best thing is to get yourself somewhere to practice(legally as the last thing you want is an a.r.v. coming to investigate someone with a gun)and just see how it performs.at the end of the day its an quid rifle so dont expect miracles, but i reckon you can have loads of fun plinking and hunting at 25-30 yards max.hope that helps and i hope you enjoy your new rifle atb John Quote Link to post

Will just have to give it a try.. The guy in the shop said it would take a rabbit at 60 yards with the pellet in the right place but I guess they all say that.. Quote Link to post
paddy.t 5
Not been funny mate but wouldn't it have been a good idea to find out about a rifle befor you buy it instead of buying it then asking if its any good. Just a thought Paddy 2 Quote Link to post

johnboy19 38
I think the guy in the shop was over exaggerating about the range, even the most experienced shooters on this forum wont take shots on live vermin at 60 yards. But if you can put say 9 out of 10 pellets in a hole the size of a £1 coin at 20 yards, and the gun has the power, you can hunt at that range, and then practice and see how it performs at longer ranges. 20 yards doesnt seem much but when static hunting with enough camo on, you will be able to get within range of rabbits. Zini on here got a cheap Chinese gun given to him for a project, a T45 me thinks but may be wrong, and done a bit of work to it and proved you dont need to spend in the £100s to have a rifle capable of shooting quarry. Just thought with all these people putting a bit of a dampener on it for you, i would say something positive, everyone has to start somewhere. The guys on here seem happy enough with it................. http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123485 John Edited June 2, 2010 by johnboy19 Quote Link to post

Sounds like the bloke's bought it on the spot, got told a load of sh1te by the tosser who's sold it to him, then at least had the good sense to think about it then ask for advice..... If it's working as it should and you can put your shots where it matters, the bunnies won't give a toss if it's got SMK or Daystate stamped on it. Practice and good luck with it, fella. Cheers. zini 1,939
Mate, Enjoy your new rifle. People who own the rifle say the rifle can group in the right circumstances, i.e. no or not much wind well at 30 yards. Believe me at 30 yards you can kill all of the UK’s legal quarry quite easily. Rats are usually shot at around 10 yards Feral at anything from 5 to 10 yards to 30 yards Corvids can be shot at these ranges too if your field craft and camouflage is good enough. Most of the bunnies I shoot are at around 23 yards ish. (Try sitting at 25 yards from a rabbit warren) be still and put on some camouflage clothing and you will get lots of rabbits mate. You just need to practice now mate to be able to shoot the rifle accurately, teaching yourself how to absorb the recoil of the piston moving forwards and how to use the correct trigger technique and follow through. If you want to hunt but you’re not the best shot, try setting paper targets up at 10 yards and when you’re hitting an inch circle consistently try some rats at the same range. Its really good fun is rat shooting and I wish I could do more. I haven’t done it for about 2 to 3 years now. I used to own a SMK Custom Lion in 1997 and that thing was just a cheap and nasty pipe with a spring in it but it managed to shoot lots of ferals and rats for me. Like I said mate enjoy your rifle, everyone has to start somewhere and I think that you’re doing the right thing. Like someone said earlier, “a rat or bunny wont care what rifle is pointed at them mate†A 12 FP £1200 Daystate Airwolf or a 12 FP £ rifle. If the pellet is sent accurately to the kill zone the bunny will die exactly the same. Si Quote Link to post
