Nutter On Killing Spree In Cumbria!

Was it a registered firearm?

If so we could be in the shiz.

Heard a BBC reporter say he overheard a police conversation about bullets & ammunition being found in a car rather than cartridges, but then heard a doctor who had attended talk about shotgun injuries.

It'll all come out over the next few days I suppose..

From the news stories it was a shotgun not a firearm. This is the least restricted type of licensed gun in the UK where you do not even have to have a reason to own one (unlike a firearm). It could have been stolen, or it could be legally held I am surprised the journalists haven't said which yet.

The trouble is that even though more people are killed with knives than guns in the UK, there will still be a strong knee jerk reaction and the anti-gun lot rubbing there hands with glee.

Sounds sad and selfish...but heres hoping it was an illegal firearm.

This kind of incident has time and time again proved to initiate knee jerk reactions from the government that can affect all us legal and responsible shooters.

let's face it, it doesn't matter if legal or illegal - stricter gun laws will be demanded.

Even if it was a licensed shotgun/firearm, it still doesn't mean a great deal in terms of licensing itself. You cannot tell what any potential/current certificate holder is thinking. From what I've heard on the news, he was a quiet person who kept out of trouble, some may say a good candidate for a certificate.

But it will affect us if proved true nonetheless because of the outcry from the public.

Still can't see how on earth you assess what someone is thinking or planning before you grant them a certificate.

You can't, it's impossible.

Which the anti's will use as an argument that ALL guns should be banned.

Whilst I send my love and thoughts to the families of those hurt and killed, I'm just glad it didn't involve kids as far as we know.

I live just outside Hungerford, and people round here have had a nasty reminder of Michael Ryan. This will touch a lot of lives, and will more than likely mean us having to fight to keep our guns, yet again!

The journo's are still saying that they don't know if it's a licenced weapon/weapons, guess the police are keeping it quiet for the time being!

A sad sad day for everyone!

y'know I was going to post about the same thing,.... great just great, just what we need, do you head that? sounds like tougher gun laws and the anti gun lobby marching down the road to whitehall. they haven't said whether the rifle was legally held or not, I bet it was.... still, there'll be a knee jerk reaction that makes it harder for all of us.

great.
