CorkyJohn 808
Can't understand anyone wanting a daytime hare dog considering anything but a saluki x, must be cutting their chances down considerably crossing with a bull x. 1 Quote Link to post

Wolly 4
cheers for the comments even tho half of them were off topic , i asked if it is possible for this cross to catch them Quote Link to post
jamie1011 5
mate i think it is possible and seen it done an old friend has one. but its far from a 3/3 hare dog it will have the odd one here and there, preban of course. its a saluki/grey x bull/grey not sure of the % but he can do them. its mainly a lamping dog but does manage the day time winter hare. hope this helps Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
IMHO a saluki/grey x bull/grey will catch hares how meny will be down to idividual dogs though i would edge my bets if i were to get this cross and get one were the dam was the saluki x as i believe it makes a difference but its only my opinion Quote Link to post
nainworb 0
they will catch day time iv got a litter now out of my bitch saluki/grey to a saluki/ bull/ grey and he catchs day time no prob the saluki side of this dog is out of very good coursing lines Quote Link to post
Wolly 4
cheers anyways lads , we will have to see what winter fetches us on permission lol Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
i don't understand the quarter bull... winter daytime hares test any good dog, personally i can't believe anyone serious about preban daytime hares would touch a dog with any bull in, its doesn't mean a bull cross couldn't but not anything like a coursing type but thats my opinion, each to their own,, Quote Link to post
littletimmy 71
or a first cross bull grey over a first cross saluki grey Someones good at maths Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
Someones good at maths Took people a while to figure that one out didn't It.. On a serious now, when I get a Lurcher I think I'll be going for a Saluki Bull Grey, seems a good allrounder If out of the right stuff! Butch Quote Link to post

L8SPORTS 19
I would get a good track greyhound breed her to a bull ( game bred ) keep the best male then breed the best saluki ( karn jihad i beleave ) to the same gey hound bitch and keep a bitch out of that and then breed the off spring half bro half sis back to each orther and there you go, but i would also keep track on the best of both litters and use the orther dogs if they turned out better than mine ( dont be kennel blind ). I think it work i personaly dont have the exsperience but i carnt see how that wouldnt work the prey drive and the determination out the bull would surely make up for any deficiancies ( did i spell that wright lol ) I think they would be very capable doggs indeed Quote Link to post
DUCKWING 302
WELL FIRST THINGS FIRST ....... THERES A HEAP OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DOG CATCHING HARES AND A DOG COURSING HARES !! SOME OF THE BEST SELF HUNTERS OF HARES IVE SEEN WERE DEERHOUND X CUR LURCHERS , A LINE OF CUR /SALUKI LURCHERS ... NOT THE POINT AND SLIP TYPE BUT MULLERED MANY HARES IN THEIR DAY ..... THEIR BIGGEST ATTRIBUTE WAS NATURAL JUMPING ABILITY AND NOSE SOMETHING FEW SALUKI HYBRIDS BRED FROM COUSING LINES HAVE ....... NOW THEN ...... OF COURSE A SALUKI / BULL LURCHER SHOULD BE ABLE TO KILL HARES , MAYBE NOT OFF 100 YDS SLIPS ..... BUT ...... SHOULD BE CAPABLE The most well known one on the coursing scene years ago was the black dog called rambo which won best of 3 matches Irish Bobs Rambo ??? if so the 2 best all rounders iv ever seen were out of this dog to a saluki , one of them was a white dog called Mick , i have a grandaughter of mick now , the other was a black bitch called Sally, both dogs threw to the saluki side to look at , feathered ears etc , both were very game , both could kill hares no bother , Mick is on the lurchermania vids , Not sure if the 2 dogs were out off same litter , but they were built the same , same kind of style when they were running !!!!!!both def out of Rambo !!!!!1 RM , I HAD MICK HERE TO MATE TO A TOP CLASS BITCH I ONCE OWNED .... SADLY SHE NEVER TOOK I SAW MICK WORK MANY TIMES AND HE WAS A GOOD HONEST DOG ..... HE WAS ALSO MATED TO A BULL GREYHOUND HYBRED AND C.N.s ROSE THE BLACK AND TAN BITCH WHICH PRODUCED A RED DOG MICKS OWNER KEPT BACK WHICH SADLY BROKE ITS LEG AS A PUP .... ON ANOTHER NOTE ....... I SAW IRISH BOBS RAMBO RUN AGAINST A TOP CLASS COURSING BRED BITCH WHICH BLEW HIM AWAY EVEN ON THE GROUND HE WAS USED TO ........ ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post
