Cleaning Butler Creek 25 round magazines

Recommended Posts

When I use subsonic in my standard Ruger rotary mags, after every 50 rounds I have to clean them as the subsonic leaves so much gritty residue (unburnt powder). Luckily this is very easy with the rotary ones.

I have just got hold of a second hand Butler creek 25 round mag (with steel lips). The Butler creek is 'used' so is a little dirty and I would like to clean it, but as the magazine is glued together, there is no way to disassemble it. I don't want to use an ultrasonic bath to clean it as this will flood the mag with water and inevitably cause rust (having seen the spring and screws from some rotary mags cleaned in this way I would never consider it).

I had wondered if something like 'Wynns brake and clutch cleaner' aerosol spray could be used safely to clean this type of magazine?
