Hob&Jill 258
Mine are inside, as I have no interest in keeping them outside. I enjoy dogs as part of the family, my younger pup sleeps in a crate downstairs at night and the old Pat sleeps under my covers Unless I have a shit load of dogs (5+ (which I wont) ) they will always live inside with me. highlander 0
I keep my dogs outside most of the time, pups stay in the house till theyre 6months old so they are house trained then they go to the kennel. My old spaniel and the bullX stay in because they dont trash everything. If my dog gets smashed up or is ill then they are allowed in the house. I must admit that I dont think I could cope with all eight dogs in the house at once. Quote Link to post
dogpainter 0
Well, question in the title really. Where do you keep your terrier - in the house or in a kennel? Is your terrier part of the family, ie a pet or a worker or both? Thanks Pignut Aint natural to keep dogs inside they will end up as soft as humans, not all humans, look at the eskimos and abo,s hard as bloody nails. Quote Link to post

Ossie 11
i was going to convert my shed into a kennel & keep the lurcher outside, but the amount of people who've seen him and said "for gods sake, keep him under lock & key, there's a lot of people who'd have their eye on him, and don't tell anyone where you live!" put me right off! so he's a house dog. plus, i filled the shed up with crap, so there'd be no room for him anyway! i'm getting a terrier pup soon(ish), and that will be a house dog too. although i do find that terriers indoors are a bit of a pain, not because they do damage, but because they're so damn easy to trip over! even if i had loads of dogs, they'd still be indoors. i live on my own, and it's quite reassuring to have a dog sitting next to you! he spends the evening in here while i'm working, he's got the cat for company, he doesn't seem to mind at all. we spend as much time as we can outside during daylight, running about the fields & walking down the woods. if i go out, and i can take him with me, he comes with me. my dad keeps most of his dogs outside in kennels, and has done for years. him & mum always have one dog indoors. when they have a pup, it lives indoors til it's about 6 months old, gets housetrained, then goes out to the kennels. when the old housedog dies, they move the housetrained one with the biggest bark back in. did that with my bro's terrier cross Bodey, he was only 6 weeks old when we got him, so he lived in a tea chest in the conservatory for a week, then had a pen next to the woodburner. when he was 6 months old & starting to bother mums old beddy/whippet x grey bitch Moss, he went out to the kennels. when Moss died a few years later, he was promoted to house dog. he still worked, but lived indoors. he's now at the ripe old age of 18, and still going strong! mum likes to have a small dog with a big bark indoors, they don't take up too much space, and they put twats off coming to the front door. funnily enough, they've never been burgled! marko 30
i keep mine in the house because i dont want thieving b*****ds getting over the wall at the end of the day though if they want them bad enough the low life maggot scum(may their balls fester and drop off) may still have a go. i believe dogs kept inside learn more and are more intelligent they pick things up a lot quicker and dont get bored as much and training is easier yes they get pampered a bloody lot but i dont find this stops them working any harder for you if anything i think they try even harder.
