best deadbait

What are your favourite deadbaits for pike and what do you get the best results with? Also what do you think is best deadbait for retrieving as well as with a float or on the bottm.

My favourite fished on the bottom in rivers is lamprey and fresh spratts or dead roach under the float though in still waters i have caught on most dead baites plus mackral .atb dell

Sardine has many disadvantages, but their biggest advantage is that they catch you alot of pike.

I find the best dead bait is taking it home a few perch and using it the next time you fish the same loch

Once had a 15 pounder on eel section.What would most lads use if they could only fish one type of baite Mine would be the humble sprat its cheap and imho it can still entice a big pike thats not in feeding mode to gobble up this small morsel
