just contacted my local vets, they said it was £60 to get a ferret spayed and when i mentned a jab they didnt know what i meant, is there a technical term for it.

if he does not know what you mean by a jill jab then take your fert to another vet if your thinking of getting it splayed.its obvious he knows nothing about them.

If I were you I would check out a few more vets in your area, most vets start their training on small animals, so I would be surprised if they new nothing about jill jabs

The drug used is Proligestone (Delvosteron by Intervet UK) its one of the few things actually licences to use on ferrets so i am supprised they didnt know this ...

 

£60 is a decent price for a spay .. you may well find other vets quote up to £30 just for the jill jab that will need doing again .. if you have no intention of breeding this jill in the future depending on the cost your quoted for jabs elsewhere i would get her speyed

i would have a look at more vets., i would of thought they would know what the jab is.

i would too also find another veterinary surgery and i would allso think twice about using them for a dog too imo

I got the jill jab for my 3 jills last week. Paid £30 odds all in, it was £14 for 1 consultation and one jab, and about £8 odds per ferret after that, was delighted with the price. Last year i paid £24 at another vets just to get 1 jill done! So defo phone about for prices

i got robbed then i paid £10.83 for all 4 were do they get this consultation fee you take them there to get it done they do it simple as that

Ah well you win! lol. I phoned about and that was my best price so i was happy to pay it anyway, specially after what i paid last year so no complaints. The consultation fee........i dont know. They mentioned something about how if any of the ferrets were bigger than average it may cost more, so i think the consultation consisted of them lookin at the ferrets, and thinking "yup they are all average size" and that was it but feck knows!
