Phantom 631
Nice going buddy I do wish people wouldn't shoot the Jays though Purely selfish reasons though If people left em alone, then maybe I'd get some over this part of the country :angle: Nah seriously, I dont think they will be on the GL for long now as they are getting so rare and they are actually responsible for most new Oak Trees I love th epic of the Deer thats awsome buddy Phantom Quote Link to post

Lee85 44
thanks phantom - regarding the jay situation - over here there's plenty, lots and lots infact - and that permission is quite a small one, lovely birds though i must admit, I have in the past said to myself that I wouldn't shoot another but when the oppertunity arrives i take it, although I have left quite a few alone also, was great to see the deer, shame i didn't have a FAC gun, that'd fill my cheat freezer! Shame you cant catch and box a few and bring em round here for me I've never seen a live Jay and I'm 40+ I've often thought about the Jay, would I wouldn't I? If its on the GL then its a legit target Phantom Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
If its on the GL then its a legit target Only if it meets the conditions of the general licence! Section 1 of the GL allows taking or killing of the included species only to "(i)Prevent serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber, fisheries or inland waters, and (ii) Prevent the spread of disease." Or possibly to "preserve public health or public safety" So if there were only a few, and they weren't causing damage, the GL would not apply! But you knew that anyway! Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Indeed I did as do most of us on here, but there are still a few newbies out here that probably didn't or just dont give a damn anyway. Seen a few who don't care and seem to think that if it breathes its a target regardless Phantom Quote Link to post
gerron 13
We used to only see the odd one around our shoot but last winter there was litterally hundreds of them so we shot a few a think about a dozen or so during pheasant drives Quote Link to post
