JackReid 35
I popped out this evening for an hour, 18.45-19.45 still quite warm and bright skys. Crept round the haybails mentioned on my other post (where I got one yesterday eve) and didnt see anything at first.. Slowly looked about but nothing. I started to fairly slowly, quietley walk alongside the overgrowth (mainly stingers), old machines and pallets etc. Took this picture while sat on a few bails a while back in the sun may show you what I mean! Thing that struck me when I just by chance came accross this file is the difference in season of it. I was there today and we dont appreciate these changes sometimes as they are quite gradual. Stingers now come out to the logs and rabbits are having a comeback after the great flying lead plague a few years back. Anyway tree hugging nature appreciation aside, I walked quietley towards the telegraph poles or whatever they are laying horizontal, going wide of the runs. When about 5 meters from the poles I spotted a rabbit about 25 meters, but somethign didnt seem right, I'm suprised he didnt see me with the sun on me, I froze and crouched slowly, using the poles 5 meters ahead of me to get out field of view (for the most part). I seized the moment and made use of a gap inbetween the ground, grass an poles with a direct view to the rabbit, going prone quietley I raised the scope. Rabbit had very early stages of mixi I saw, only one eye in a bad state though. 2 seconds later I had made the decision for Mr bugs that he should take the easy way out and brought him down. Counted it out to 24 meters, took the bunny about 50-100 m into the field and launched him for the fox and keep away from the run. I know you should dispose of them well away from sets to avoid possible further infection but I was here to shoot not dig graves! Standing after shot. Below The bunny. After this I just had a little stroll and missed one, (keep over holding too much with the 97K when not prone), better than shooting low I suppose. Final pic took on the way back, its the slope I'm always on about but this time from a different angle and I usually come down from the top. The telephone pylons mark the main part of the warren. ATB Jack p.s No more spamming posts from me anymore from me as Davy answered my cries and kindly pointed me in the right direction for doing pictures in one post rather than the old school uploader. This is the only site I upload pics so never used photobucket for anything much until now! But this is much better, nice one mate. Edited May 31, 2010 by JackReid 2 Quote Link to post
